Tabcorp’s Sky Racing World signs deal with Korea Racing Authority

TABCORP’s subsidiary Sky Racing World is teaming up with South Korea’s sole racing authority to deliver more racing content to the rest of the world.

Two weeks after Australian company Tabcorp got the green light from the Australian Competition Tribunal to merge with Tatts, it has announced its subsidiary has teamed up with Korea Racing Authority (KRA).

Sky Racing World delivers Australian, New Zealand and South African racing and content to around 70 American betting brands, as well as UK-based bookmakers, and will now offer South Korean racing under the new agreement.

Horse racing content from KRA-operated tracks includes LetsRun Park Seoul (specifically Friday and Saturday nights) and Busan-Gyeongnam (on Thursday and Saturday nights).

Under the new partnership, American and European betting sites will begin airing the content from August 3.

The racing content will be distributed 50 weeks a year to advance depositing wagering (ADW) sites which will, in turn, offer South Korean betting markets to their customers.

Available bets include win, show/place, exacta, trifecta, pick 3, pick 4, and superfecta.

Past performance data on the fields in Korean races will also be available for free on the Sky Racing World websit, as well as Equibase – a source for horse racing results.

The Australian-owned company, which launched in 2014, also provides racing content from Down Under to over 425 horse-racing tracks and off-track betting outlets in America, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean.

President and CEO of Sky Racing World, David Haslett, said South Korean racing is comparable to Australian racing.

“South Koreans wager over $7 billion annually on horse-racing,” he said.

“It, therefore, serves as an important addition to the international horse-racing content we provide to ADWs.

“With the Keeneland Korean Cup, Keeneland Sprint and other major G1 races scheduled, we expect our Korean racing product to provide our wagering partners with a powerful tool for retaining existing customers and acquiring new ones.”

KRA Marketing Director, Seong Won Jeon, said the racing authority is incredibly experienced since it “has been operating thoroughbred horse-racing in Korea for nearly 100 years.”

“With its rich field size and easy-to-learn form, more than 1,000 races are simulcast annually in countries like Australia, Singapore and Malaysia,” he added.

“With this partnership with Sky Racing World, we hope race fans in the Americas will see and feel the excitement and the thrill that Korean racing has to offer.”

The South Korean racing schedule will run weekly during August, and the second annual G1 Keeneland Korea Cup takes place on Saturday, September 9th, 2017.
