Tekkorp secures Illinois sports betting licence

Illinois gambling news

After several months of considering applications, the Illinois Gaming Board finally name Tekkorp Digital Acquisition’s Caliente Interactive as the only qualified recipient of sports betting licence. The other applicants didn’t meet up with the Board’s requirements.

Following the board meeting last week chaired by IGB’s administrator, Marcus D Fruchter, the board went through the three applications with the 2019 Illinois Gaming Act as their guide which allowed only three sports betting licences in the State.

December 3, 2021, was the due date for submitting the applications, all three applications were received. One of the applications wasn’t eligible because it was filed before IGB a day after the due date.

On February 1 2022, one of the three applicants officially withdraw from the process this was contained in the letter they wrote IGB notifying them of their decision. Only two brands were left in the race.

Tekkorp/Caliente Interactive was the first bidder, they were screened and met up with the minimum qualifications and can now proceed with the application to the next level.

Fubo Gaming is the second bidder, but failed to meet up the minimum requirements, leading to their disqualification from the process.

Following the outcome of the meeting, Tekkorp was listed as the only qualified application and was issued an operating licence by the board.
