The Tennessee Titans head to the nation’s heartland to take on the Indianapolis Colts in a huge AFC South game that has major playoff implications.

The Titans have won two in a row and four of their last five games to sit tied with the Colts for second place in the AFC South, one game back of the Houston Texans. Four teams in the AFC are at 6-5, of which the Colts only hold the tiebreaker over the Titans because of conference win percentage. Indy also beat Tennessee at home early this season.

The Colts were looking good for a while, but they have lost three of their last four games. They lost to the Texans 20-17 in their last game and do not face them again this season.

The resurgence of the Titans is due in large part to the play of QB Ryan Tannehill and RB Derrick Henry, who has the fourth-most rushing yards in the NFL. All four Tennessee wins in their last five games have come at home.

This season the Colts are 4-2 at home and the Titans are 2-3 on the road. Indy have covered the spread in seven of their last eight home games against Tennessee.

The Titans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 42-20 after putting up 35 points in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in their previous game. Tennessee scored 28 points in the third quarter, outgained the Jags by more than 100 yards (471-369), and rushed for 219 yards.

Tannehill only had 18 pass attempts in the win over the Jags but completed 14 of them for 253 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He has been excellent since stepping into the starting QB role, and it helps to have Henry in the backfield.

To say Henry has been solid of late would be a major understatement. He rushed for 159 yards in the win over Jax after notching 182 yards against the Chiefs. He averaged more than eight yards per carry in each game and had two TD in each. He also had scoring runs of 74 yards and 68 yards, respectively, in each game.

Indianapolis rank 16th in the NFL in pass defense and ninth in run defense. The Colts offense has been the main reason for their slide, as they only averaged 17.7 ppg across their three recent losses.

Indy gave up nearly 400 yards in their defeat to Houston and were shut out in the fourth quarter. QB Jacoby Brissett passed for only 129 yards with no touchdowns and no picks. While the Colts are a run-first team, Brissett only has one touchdown in his last four games and has been sacked in each of his last three games.

The Colts rushed for 175 yards in the loss to Houston and Jonathan Williams rushed for 104 yards. He has come out of nowhere, racking up 222 rushing yards in his last two games after putting up a single yard in his first game of the season.

Indy rushed for 167 yards in their early-season win against the Titans. Tennessee’s defense ranks a respectable 12th in the NFL against the run but only 24th in pass defense.

Titans @ Colts NFL betting predictions

Indianapolis Colts -2.5 at -111.11 with Bovada

The Colts are reeling and the Titans are surging, but something tells us Indy will show up in this game. Their defense will play well, while Brissett and the run game will as well. It should be a close fight, but the Colts will come out on top and cover at home to boost their playoff chances.
