The Global Tote
UK punters can now bet into the same pool as Australians. Topbetta recently announced it had secured a United Kingdom Gambling Commission license, which means it can accept UK punters, while they have also been granted permission to offer pool betting through The Global Tote. This means any bookmaker which has integrated with TGT will have the same pool betting on racing and sports. While Topbetta is currently the only bookie with Global Tote facilities, there are many more in the pipelines, including Ladbrokes and possibly a Canadian-facing website.

UK-licensed Global Tote betting sites
The Global Tote is a new product and it is only available at a select number of bookies. We will update this page as more become available.
TopBetta is based in Newcastle, Australia (not the UK). While the betting site is licensed by the Northern Territory, it has also received a license to operate in the UK.
Along with a range of betting markets available, including sports, racing and novelty bets, TopBetta also offers the Global Tote.
The product which has taken Australian punters by storm also received a license by the UK Gambling Commission meaning it will likely become more available at betting sites licensed here.
Due to the UK license, the Global Tote will also see UK racing products added before the end of the year too.
The Global Tote already has the rights to broadcast UK and Irish Greyhound racing events due to an agreement with Sports Information Services Ltd (SIS). Under the deal, the Global Tote odds are available on a number of races for punters around the world, including the UK.
Although TopBetta is only a young site, punters are promised great odds and generous welcome bonuses which UK gamblers can take advantage of. Additionally, UK punters can join in on the action Australian horse and greyhound racing provides.
Another online betting site signed on for the Global Tote product is the UK-based betting site, Ladbrokes. Ladbrokes is one of the biggest bookmakers in Great Britain and it features a range of local and international betting markets, as well as substantial offers for punters to claim.
Although the product is not yet available, it is likely to be offered soon. Punters can create an account – or use a pre-existing login – to gain access to the Global Tote pool.
Global Tote explained
The Global Tote is exactly what it sounds like – all bets on a race or an event by punters from all around the world are placed into the one global pool.
The world first product enables licensed betting operators from around the globe to participate, including the UK.
The Global Tote also offers greater returns to punters with a maximum 12 percent taken out of the pool before winnings are paid.
Currently, tote markets in the UK take around 22 percent out of the pool before paying winners.
Known as a one-stop wholesale tote for racing markets, the Global Tote was first launched in Australia in 2017.
While the product is only new it has been performing well Down Under since it has such a low take out rate and has huge potential in the UK.
Global Tote betting
When it comes to betting with the Global Tote at TopBetta, punters can bet on the races and other events via mobile and desktop devices. The Global Tote odds available are indicated via the small blue strip on selected races.
At the time of writing, the Global Tote offers two products;
Global Tote Top for thoroughbred racing – Guarantees the highest dividend of the existing totes and the Global Tote.
Global Tote Mid for greyhound racing – Guarantees the middle dividend of the existing totes, if the Global Tote does not surpass the price.
Using the product is easy and done so similarly to betting on other totes.
You will need to be a member of a Global Tote licensed platform, such as TopBetta to be able to opt in. This takes a few minutes to sign up, with all details protected by encryption software (similar to what major banks use for their online banking systems).
Then head to the racing markets and locate the meets with the Global Tote available – indicated by the blue banner, as mentioned above. The market view will show the Global Tote odds for both win and place bets in the last two columns.
While the Global Tote is not available for every single meeting, it is likely to be switched on for more and more races as it grows.
The innovative product also has the ability to handle major sporting events including the Superbowl, the NBA Finals and more which we expect to become available as the product grows within the next 12 months.
The future of the Global Tote
The potential for the Global Tote to become a worldwide phenomenon is huge.
An Australian punter believed in the product so much that he has invested $AUD200 million. One of Australia’s well-known gambling identities, Sean Bartholomew, said the Global Tote will take off as it attracts punters from all around the world.
As more punters use the Global Tote, more bookmakers will add the product to their betting options and the bigger the pool will grow. We will keep an eye on it and update any new bookmakers which add the Global Tote for UK punters here.
