CHAMPION quarterback Tom Brady returned in fine style last week against the Browns after sitting out the first four games due to suspension.

The Patriots put away the worst team in football 33-13 in a comprehensive display and they are now fully fit, which is a danger for any team that faces them this season. The Bengals are next on the agenda and the bookmakers aren’t showing them much respect.

The Bengals are +9 underdogs, but improvement is needed after the 28-14 loss suffered at the hands of the Cowboys last week.

Cincinnati is a team that has prided itself on tough defense over the past few seasons, but with 114 yards per game allowed on the ground, the Bengals will need to find a solution to stop LeGarrette Blount and the Pats rushing game, which has averaged 128 yards rushing.

Both teams have playoff desires, which will make for an exciting game this Sunday, so sign up to Bovada.lv and enjoy the action.

Bengals vs. Patriots past performances and records

The Patriots have won six straight home games against the Bengals – its last loss against Cincinnati on their home turf came back in 1986.

It’s that home dominance that has bettors leaning towards backing the Patriots -9, especially given that the last time these two teams played each other, the Patriots emerged victorious by 43-17.

Tom Brady has a lot to play for this season and a win against the Bengals will take him a long way. Despite missing the first four games of the season, Brady is only five wins away from tying Peyton Manning for most wins as an NFL quarterback and he’s only six wins short of becoming the most successful of all time.

The Patriots are currently ranked 14th for its pass offense, but with Tom Brady back in the picture, expect those numbers to improve throughout the season. It has been the rush offense which has created problems for opposing teams this season.

Ranking fourth in rush offense, the Patriots have averaged 128 yards per game, which bodes very well against the Bengals, which give up 114 yards on the ground per game, ranking them 19th in the league.

Perhaps the biggest statistic in favor of the Patriots is the amount of sacks the Bengals have allowed. Quarterback Andy Dalton has been sacked an incredible 17 times already this season, which simply isn’t good enough.

If the Bengals are going to compete against the Patriots, Andy Dalton will need time to throw in the pocket against an inconsistent Patriots secondary, so look for the offensive line to step up this Sunday.

Betting on Tom Brady

Bettors have had great success betting on Tom Brady in the past and he gives them no reason to stop now.

Brady is looking forward to returning to Gillette Stadium after playing on the road last week and believes it will be a fun occasion.

“I’m very excited. It will be a great game. They’re a very good team we’re playing, so I think the crowd will be into it and I’m sure we’ll be ready to go, too,” Brady said.

“I look forward to playing every week, and certainly, this will be a fun game. It’s always pretty fun to be out there. We’ve got a great crowd and hopefully we give them lots of reasons to cheer. We’ve always had great support here. It’s just a great place to play, so hopefully we can make enough plays and keep them loud all game.”

Brady’s main receiver this week will be Martellus Bennett, who has caught 21 receptions for 314 yards and four touchdowns. Rob Gronkowski is also fighting fit now and the enigmatic tight end will prove tough to stop for the Bengals defense.

“I was saying the other day, Martellus has been so productive, being here for such a short time. Gronk, what he did last week and him kind of getting back to where he wants to be is such a big part of our offense because those guys are so dynamic,” Brady said.

“They’re tough matchups, they’re both 6’6”-plus, 270-pounds plus. They’re hard matchups for anybody because they’re just very unique players.

“It’s great because like on the touchdown to Martellus, one of them, they focused all their coverage on Gronk, and then Martellus gets the one-on-one and he gets the ball.”

Bengals vs. Patriots game prediction

We expect the Patriots to extend their home winning streak against the Bengals, but the tough decision came when deciding which team would cover the nine-point spread.

The Bengals haven’t been able to cover many lines this season and it’s not easy playing on the road. Their two wins this season came against the Jets and the Dolphins where they averaged 22.5 points per game, but they might need at least 30 to contend against the Patriots.

With a game under his belt, expect Tom Brady to fire at home and the Patriots to pull away late.

Our tip: Bengals 17 – Patriots 34: Patriots -9 (-110 at Bovada.lv)
