Miocic vs Cormier UFC 252 betting preview
Daniel Cormier stunned Stipe Miocic with an upset win back at UFC 226 to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship and become a two-division champion. Miocic won his title back at UFC 241 last August at UFC 241. The two veteran heavyweights clash for one final bout this Saturday in the main event of UFC 252 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Win or lose, Cormier (22-2) has announced that this will be his final professional fight. He will go down as one of the greatest of all time; he is one of only four fighters to ever win championships in two different divisions and was an excellent UFC Light Heavyweight champion with three successful defenses from 2015 through 2018 before relinquishing the title to fight full-time at heavyweight. Jon Jones is the only fighter Cormier has ever met and not defeated in his professional career.

Miocic (19-3) became the first fighter in history to successfully defend the UFC Heavyweight Championship three times when he defeated Francis Ngannou by decision at UFC 220. From 2015 through 2019, Miocic went gone 7-1 in the heavyweight division, avenging his only loss over that stretch to Cormier with a win in their rematch. Miocic has already secured his legacy as one of the best heavyweights in UFC history, and a win over Cormier at UFC 252 could cement him in top spot.
In the first fight between these two, Miocic was taking the fight to Cormier before getting caught with a hard right at the end of the first round that sent him straight down to the mat. The second fight saw Cormier as the aggressor, originally controlling the tempo with his wrestling before getting cocky and deciding to trade blows with Miocic. This turned out to be a mistake, with Miocic wearing Cormier down with strikes en route to a knockout win in the fourth round.
Both of these men have already proven they are capable of ending this fight with a single blow. There’s a reason that the UFC betting odds are as close as they are and have stayed that way since this line opened. In the end, we lean towards Cormier having a better gameplan this time around and using his superior wrestling skills to grind out a win in the conclusion to this epic trilogy.
