While the main event of UFC 260 features two established veterans in Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou, the main card is loaded with young talent looking to build momentum in prime time. With the UFC Featherweight Championship bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega canceled due to Volkanovski testing positive for COVID-19, young stars like Vicente Luque and Sean O’Malley highlight the card leading up to the main event.

Welterweight: Vicente Luque (-250) vs Tyron Woodley (+210)

Vicente Luque (19-7-1) is 8-1 over his last nine fights with six of his last seven wins coming by knockout. Since losing to Stephen Thompson at UFC 244 in late 2019, Luque has bounced back with back-to-back knockout wins over Niko Price and Randy Brown. A win this weekend would earn Luque a spot in the top 10 of the UFC welterweight rankings.

Tyron Woodley (19-6-1) was once one of the most dominant pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC. From 2014 through 2018 he went 6-0-1 with three successful UFC Welterweight Championship title defenses. But since then, he is 0-3 with losses to Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Burns, and Colby Covington. His last win came back in 2018 and he has looked listless in each of his last three fights.

Perhaps going up against less stiff competition will give Woodley a chance to recover his old form. It’s a hard sell, though, considering how thoroughly he has been dominated over his last 15 rounds of UFC action. We’ll go with the favorite.

Bantamweight: Sean O’Malley (-320) vs Thomas Almeida (+270)

Sean O’Malley (12-1-0) suffered the first loss of his career last August to Marlon Vera when he was knocked out in the first round after suffering an ankle injury early on. He returns to the octagon against Thomas Almeida (22-4-0), who was once 21-0-0 before losing four of his last five fights. Almeida is still only 29 years old and may get his career back on track at some point, but it isn’t likely to happen against O’Malley, who has looked like a superstar in the making when healthy.

Women’s Flyweight: Miranda Maverick (-157) vs Gillian Robertson (+137)

Miranda Maverick (8-2-0) had an impressive UFC debut at UFC 254 when she scored a bloody knockout win over Liana Jojua. Maverick has won each of her last four fights and will have the chance to prove herself against a more experienced UFC fighter this Saturday. Gillian Robertson (9-5-0) is 6-3-0 in the UFC and has earned six of her nine professional wins by submission. Maverick is no stranger to the mat with five submission wins on her resume as well; look for her to scrap her way to another win in the octagon.

Lightweight: Khama Worthy (-122) vs Jamie Mullarkey (+102)

Khama Worthy (16-7-0) had a seven-fight winning streak snapped in his last fight when he was knocked out in the first round by Ottman Azaitar. Jamie Mullarkey (12-4-0) is off to a 0-2 start to his UFC career since entering the promotion on a four-fight winning streak with four straight knockouts. This should be a fun fight in which both men go for the knockout early; we’ll take the underdog odds on Mullarkey.
