JIMI Manuwa takes on Corey Anderson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 107 in London on Saturday night.

Despite taking out The Ultimate Fighter season 19, Corey Anderson is 27-years-old and a relative newcomer to the sport. This will be Anderson’s ninth UFC bout and his first main event in his career.

For Anderson, Saturday night represents a chance to validate his position inside the 205-pound weight class.

“I’m the youngest one ranked, I believe,” Anderson said.

“I think everybody else has been in the game for about 10 years. Even Misha (Cirkunov) has been fighting 10 years of his life. I just hit my four-year mark last week that I’ve been training. I’ve been fighting three and a half (years).”

Anderson has high ambitions as to how far he can go inside the UFC octagon.

“With Jon Jones being out of the picture right now, (the division is) open. It’s open to be that person that everybody can say is going to be the ‘GOAT.’ I’m young, I’m new to this and I’m still learning.”

10 years Anderson’s senior, Jimi Manuwa is looking at making a statement in front of his home fans.

The England native is coming off a spectacular knockout victory over the dangerous Ovince Saint Preux back in November, arguably his first and only Sportscenter-style win in the UFC.

“It felt satisfying that I’d finally got a good finish,” Manuwa said about the victory.

“Past opponents, looking back at it, they’ve retired due to injury, or referee stoppage. To me, a win’s a win. But you always want that highlight-reel finish, and that’s my style: finishing people.”

Manuwa is only focused on one thing this weekend, and that is inflicting “pain”.

“I plan on dishing out more pain, another stoppage (and) another stoppage win,” he said.

“Corey Anderson’s a great fighter and I look forward the challenge of fighting him. But I just come to give out pain, and not a lot of people can take it.”

Fight preview

An interesting battle between one of the true knockout artists of the 205-pound division in Jimi Manuwa faces the tough and durable Corey Anderson in a potentially weight-class defining match up.

It is not out of the realms of possibility that the winner of this bout goes on to face the victor of Daniel Cormier and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson’s title bout at UFC 210.

Anderson is a highly promising fighter who took out The Ultimate Fighter 19. Since taking out TUF19 the 27-year-old has added more skills to his arsenal and is now one of the better fighters in the light heavyweight division.

Jimi Manuwa is ten years older than Anderson and a true finisher in the UFC. There are serious question marks over his cardio going into the bout however, and given Anderson is much younger, fitter and faster, Anderson should look to exploit that at every opportunity.

The way Manuwa wins this fight is if Anderson decides to fight standing up and trade blow, but if he even considers this option he should swap training camps almost instantly.

We are backing Corey Anderson to grind out a decision victory against Manuwa and place his name fairly and squarely in the title frame in the 205-pound division.
