A UFC bantamweight champion has been arrested for brawling outside a bar during the early hours of Sunday.
The first woman to win the Ultimate Fighter reality TV show, Julianna Pena, has been charged with two counts of assault by the Spokane Police Department in Washington.
The 27-year-old was reportedly found at the scene of a fight outside a bar in downtown Spokane when the police were called.
Jordan Ferguson of the Spokane PD said police investigated and arrested Pena, along with one other person.
Ferguson noted Pena identified herself as a professional fighter at the scene and she was she was booked at the Spokane County jail at 2:53 a.m. on Sunday morning.
A spokesperson for Spokane County Jail said Pena was released on bail on Sunday afternoon after her bailor paid $2000.
The news initially broke via the Sherdog forums where one member wrote they saw her being “put in the back of the police car”.
Pena has not yet responded to a request for comment.
UFC senior vice president of public relations, Dave Sholler revealed the company is “aware of the situation” and is “in the process of gathering more information.”
Pena could face a fine of up to $5000, prison for a maximum of 364 days or both.
Pena was the first female to win the Ultimate Fighter reality show in 2013 and has a record of 7-2. She also has three consecutive wins in the UFC and is considered to be one of the best among the women’s bantamweight division.
