The UFC heads to San Antonio, Texas, this weekend for the latest UFC Fight Night card, with the headline fight being between two top titles prospects in the bantamweight division: no.3 Marlon Vera and no.5 Cory Sandhagen.
Not only is this fight massive for the division, but this is also set to be a massive fight between two of the best finishers in the division.
Marlon Vera (+139) heads into this fight as the slight underdogs with online betting sites with a record of 20-7-1, coming off four straight victories and defeating some big names like Rob Font, Davey Grant and “Suga” Sean O’Malley.
Having finished 16 of his 20 professional wins by KO and submission, you can guarantee Vera is ready to put on a show.
Cory Sandhagen (-172.41) will enter the octagon on Saturday night with his only three losses in the UFC coming in the last six fights. All three losses came from former and previous bantamweight champions: Aljamain Sterling, TJ Dillashaw, and Petr Yan.
With a professional record of 15-4-0 and 10 of the wins coming before the bell, Sandhagen will be looking to prove why he deserves a shot at the title in the next couple of fights.
Both fighters are very similar in the approach they take with every fight. Either fighter is capable of finishing their fights on the ground if they need to, but is also capable of finishing their opponents by KO.

It’s tough to call this one since neither guy has a definitive advantage in any particular area. It doesn’t seem likely that either side could silence the other using takedowns.
Neither of them has really shown any major weaknesses. Vera’s never been tapped out, whereas Sandhagen has only ever been submitted by Sterling.
With both fighters having never lost by KO, it seems like this one will go down to a decision. Whoever can cause the most damage and keep control will be the one who comes out on top.
Although Sandhagen’s shots have significant force, they don’t quite compare to Vera’s. Font and Dominick Cruz were completely under his control.
Sandhagen has the chin and endurance to withstand a KO from Vera, but it’s hard to imagine the former overpowering the latter.
Take the underdog to win by decision, and expect a fight-of-the-night performance.
