West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Oklahoma Sooners Odds & Tips
In the first round of the Big 10 conference tournament 7th seed Oklahoma meets the 10th West Virginia in an important match up for both teams.
The Sooners need a win since they are right on the bubble and meet a Mountaineers outfit that finished with a record below .500.
The winner of this game will face second seeded Texas Tech in the next round of the tournament.
Oklahoma has 19 wins, but they are on the Big Dance bubble, as they were only 7-11 in Big 10 play. They had won two in a row before losing their last game of the season facing a ranked Kansas State team. The Sooners are pretty balanced and after scoring 92 points and 81 points, respectively, they only scored 53 points in their last game.

West Virginia will not be playing in any post-season tournament at 12-19 and they finished in the basement of the Big 12 at 4-14. They lost two of their last three games with the first loss a 12-point road loss to Oklahoma. The Mountaineers have had major issues on the defensive end of the court on the season only ranking tied for 303rd in points allowed.
This season West Virginia is 10-20-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 18-13 and Oklahoma is at 19-9-3 ATS with an Over/Under record of 12-19.
West Virginia has covered the spread in four of their last five games facing Oklahoma.
In their last game of the regular season West Virginia was on the road and lost to Oklahoma State 85-77. They allowed the Cowboys to shoot 50% from the floor while they shot 44.6%. Every starter for the Mountaineers scored in double figures in the game with Derek Culver going huge with 16 points and 21 rebounds and two other players went for 16 points.
Injuries have killed WVU this season with their top two scorers in Sagaba Konate and James Bolden both lost for the season. Culver is averaging a double-double (12.1 ppg 10.2 rpg) and he has totaled 31 points and 32 rebounds in his last two games. To make matters worse Esa Ahmad (12.3 ppg) has been suspended for disciplinary reasons. Lamont West is the only other player for the team averaging in double figures at 10.5 ppg and while he has totaled 28 points in the last two games he was only 8/28 from the floor.
WQVU beat OU at home earlier in the season, but lost to them late where they only shot 41.9% from the floor and allowed the Sooners to shoot a scorching 59.2%.
Oklahoma was on the road in their last game losing to 18th ranked Kansas State 68-53 where they were outscored by 10 points in the first half and only shot 41.5% from the field. Kristian Doolittle and Jamal Bieniemy were the only two players to score in double figures combining for 26 points.
Christian James leads the Sooners averaging 14.5 ppg, but he has failed to score over eight points in his last three games. Brady Manek ranks 2nd on the squad averaging 11.7 ppg and after totaling 35 points in two games he only went for four points in the loss to Kansas State.

Oklahoma did lose to West Virginia this season, but that was on the road and the Mountaineers have failed to cover the spread in their last six neutral site games.
Look for that trend to continue, as the Sooners will get their 20th win and cover the spread moving on to face a ranked Texas Tech team in the next round of the Big 12 tournament.
