Series tied at 3-3
IN a series that has had more twists and turns than an M. Night Shyamalan movie, the NBA Western Conference Finals come down to one game.
The Thunder announced they are not here just to make up the numbers to kick off the series, shocking the Warriors at home on the back of their dynamic duo Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
The Warriors were able to bounce back in game 2 and record a crushing 27-point victory, which was countered in game 3 by 28 point win by OKC.
We were only three games in but these two teams were trading blows like prize fighters – and home court advantage meant nothing.
The two teams traded wins in game 4 and 5 – which meant all the Thunder had to do was protect their home court fortress and they would be through to face the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
Oklahoma City looked destined to do just that after winning three consecutive quarters, but an incredible combined scoring onslaught from Steph Curry (31 points) and Klay Thompson (41) ensured that the Western Conference Finals will roll on into game 7.
The four-time leading NBA scorer Kevin Durant was ice-cold from down town in game 6, hitting just one of his eight attempts from three point land.
If Thunder fans were worried that his ordinary shooting from beyond the arc would dent the confidence of the former MVP, his interview after the game would have went a long way to alleviating those fears.
“On the offensive end, you don’t have to worry about me,” Durant said.
“I’m a professional scorer. I’ve been doing this for so long. I’m not saying I’m going to have a great game every night or I’m going to shoot well every night. But I tend to figure things out on the offensive end.”
Now it all comes down to this; arguably the two most potent offensive teams in the NBA going at each other full throttle.
The cut-throat scenario could ensure that this game 7 could be the most exciting and free flowing conference finals we have ever seen.
Sit back and enjoy the ride.
Game Seven game predictions
Game result: Golden State Warriors to win ($1.29 with sportsbet.com.au)
Line betting: Oklahoma City +7.0 ($1.91 with sportsbet.com.au)
Total game score: Under 218 ($1.91 with sportsbet.com.au)
Bonus tip: First Basket/Winner double – Steph Curry/Golden State Warriors ($6.85 with sportsbet.com.au)
After dropping game one at home the Golden State Warriors were forced to pull something special out of the bag to remain in the Western Conference Finals.
GSW were able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in game 6 after trailing at every change, scoring 33 points in the final quarter to lock up the finals 3-3.
The Oklahoma City Thunder had a finals berth seemingly in the bag and after dropping game 6 will they be able to recover and get the job done on against all odds?
The two teams have scoring massive numbers throughout the series which has led to a huge line of 218 in the match; but that total that has not been surpassed in four of the six games to date in the Western Conference Finals.
Even though we are anticipating an offensive onslaught it is hard to see the two teams exceeding 218 points given how the series has played out thus far, and the toll of the grueling six games could lead to some shooting lethargy.
We are expecting the two teams to fail the total game score line of 218 points.
The Thunder would have to defy the odds ($3.75) to advance through to the NBA Finals, but after the agonising defeat at home we are not certain they will be able to overcome the heartache of the game 6 setback.
The cut-throat game should be a lot closer than the majority of the series, and we are not expecting the Warriors to blow the Thunder out of the water – that is why we are backing OKC to cover the seven point line.
We do not believe that the Thunder have what it takes to topple the Warriors at home however, Steve Kerr’s men should have enough in reserve to get over Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook en route to the NBA Finals and a shot at back-to-back titles.
