IT’S the last English Premier League game of the weekend, and what a cracker it’s shaping up to be.

Leicester City will travel to Old Trafford looking to make history, with a win over Manchester United guaranteeing them the Premier League title in what would be one of the most remarkable underdog stories in all of sports history.

The Foxes started the season rated a $5000-1 chance of winning the title, with some punters set to win hundreds of thousands from just a few dollars worth of bets.

Our mates over at sportsbet.com.au report that if the Foxes beat the Red Devils on the weekend – which they are favoured to do – the online bookmaker stands to lose some $1.2 million.

Sportsbet had quoted outlandish odds of $3,001 at the start of the season – a price which remained upheld until November.

57 punters with the online bookie got on at the odds of $3001, with one punter already cashing out early for close to $35,000.

But the largest bet from a punter, $50 at $3001, is still holding tight – awaiting a massive $150,050 pay day.

They’re seven points ahead of second placed Tottenham with three to play. A win would seal it, but manager Claudio Ranieri is trying to keep a lid on things.

“I’m optimistic, I’m positive,” Ranieri said.

“But I know it is not easy.

“It’s not easy. Three matches, two away and one at home.

“And we must be very, very concentrated as well today.”

Many thought the Foxes would struggle to score with golden boot fancy Jamie Vardy suspended for losing his marbles at the match referee against West ham, but they made a mockery of those thoughts on the weekend, bouncing back from that 2-2 draw by slamming four goals past Swansea.

People seem to forget that Leonardo Ulloa is one of the classiest strikers in the game and he showed off his considerable talents by scoring a brace, while Algerian superstar Riyad Mahrez – the popular pick for the the PFA Player of the Year Award – kicked things off with a composed strike, book ended by Marc Albrighton’s 85th minute party time finish.

United, still hunting for a Champions league position just outside the top four, has been in sparkling form, winning four of its last five matches.

A 3-0 loss to the Spurs was their only blemish in that stretch and they did not concede in any of the four wins.

They did it easy against Crystal Palace, a 2-0 win set up largely by rising star Matteo Darmian.

Darmian had a stinging cross turned into the net by Palace’s Damien Delaney in the fourth minute to give United a dream start.

And then he slotted the slotted the sealer in the 55th minute smashing home a half volley to draw United to within a point of the top four.

The Foxes were once United’s whipping boys, the English power club enjoying a nine match winning streak over them. But times have changed, with the Red Devils taking all three points just once in their last three clashes.

Two titans going head to head with plenty on the line? What’s not to love?

Nothing is stopping the Foxes’ juggernaut. They have won 22 games this season – more than any other season in the top flight – and they have taken their show on the road plenty of times and come away with wins against class opposition. This one is no different. There would be some theatrics, though, in a loss, that would set up a chance to seal it at home against Everton next week, but we don’t think they are going to risk it. This side is to close knit and too talented to let an opportunity like this slide – even against United on its home deck. We’re tipping Ulloa to be the man who slots first, he banged two home against Crystal Palace and will be eager to impress and seal the title win, although it would be a tragedy that Vardy misses out on the title winning match, after giving his side so much this season. Wayne Rooney might be a keep safe at $7, considering he needs only one more goal to make it 100 at Old Trafford. Last season’s clash at Old Trafford ended in 3-1 win to the Red Devils. But that seems a life time away now, when the Foxes were relegation battlers and not on the verge of winning the Premier League title. With both teams in top form and with plenty to play with, this one is set to be a biggie.
