2018 US Open – 3rd round parlay betting tips
The heat at the US Open is still sweltering as we head into the third round of the singles draws.
On the men’s side, all the big guns are still alive with the exception of Andy Murray, but he was not seeded after missing much of the season with an injury.
On the Women’s side of the draw the big match in the third round is the Williams sisters facing off for the right to move on.
US Open third round betting tips:
– Wawrinka to win, +120
– Serena Williams to win 2-0, +110
– Stephens to win, -151.52

Stanislas Wawrinka vs. Milos Raonic
Friday, August 31 – 4pm EST
This is an intriguing clash between two unseeded players looking to recapture some past glory. Both Wawrinka and Raonic have had career high rankings of no.3 in the world, but currently Stan the Man is ranked 101 while Raonic is ranked 24.
In the second round Wawrinka beat Ugo Humbert 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 and Raonic beat Giles Simon 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. If Raonic wins this match it will be his best showing at a US Open. While he has made the quarterfinals of the other three majors, he has failed to do so at Flushing Meadows. On the other side of the coin, Wawrinka won the Open in back in 2016 before injuries derailed his career.
Each player has looked solid so far, with each only dropping one set. Wawrinka has won four of the five meetings between these two players, but in the last – and the only one at a major – Raonic triumphed at the 2016 Australian Open.
Wawrinka had 43 winners in his second round match, but had 57 unforced errors. Look for that to change in this match as the Swiss star progresses in a tight one.
Tip: Wawrinka to win, +120

Serena Williams vs. Venus Williams
Friday, August 31 – 4pm EST
This is the 30th tour matchup between the two sisters, with Serena holding a 17-12 advantage and a 10-5 record in majors. She cruised in her second round match, beating Carina Witthoeft 6-2, 6-2. Venus had a tougher time, but also played a much higher-ranked player, taking out 40th ranked Camila Giorgi 6-4, 7-5.
Serena stated about the match, “Unfortunately and fortunately, we have to play each other.”
Serena looked better than Venus in their second round matches. In the 82 points that Venus won against Giorgi, only 13 came on her own winners with the Italian making 28 unforced errors. Serena had 30 winners while Witthoeft only had 10. The younger Williams will dominate this match from the get-go.
Tip: Serena Williams to win 2-0, +110
Sloane Stephens vs. Victoria Azarenka
Friday, August 31 – 12pm EST
While Stephens is the third seed and Azarenka is the 79th ranked player in the world, the defending champ is not a big betting favorite. Azarenka has not dropped a set in her two matches while Stephens needed three sets in her second round win over Anhelina Kalinina winning 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Stephens has already faced Azarenka twice this season, beating in both the semifinals of the Miami Open and the first round of the BNP Paribas Open. The American lost the first set in Miami, but came back to dominate 6-2, 6-1 en route to the title.
Both of these players have experience going deep in the US Open, with Azarenka twice finishing as runner-up. The Belorussian has a 3-2 edge in five meetings between these two.
Azarenka is the former no.1 player in the world, but Stephens is more athletic and can cover the court better. That will be key in this match between two players that both have solid baseline games. It would be no surprise if this match went the distance, but Stephens will come out on top and advance to the fourth round.
Tip: Stephens to win, -151.52
