22/23 NFL week six best bets & top odds | Sunday, October 23

We are already approaching the halfway point of the NFL season and the playoff picture is beginning to become clearer. Many of the projected contenders are living up to their preseason billing and while it’s too early to rule anyone out, the list of pretenders is growing every week. This week seven slate isn’t the most interesting due to the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings being on a bye week, but we still have picks for many of the games.

Baltimore Ravens vs Cleveland Browns

This is an important divisional battle for both teams. The Ravens are 3-3 and will be hosting the 2-4 Browns in a game where the Ravens should dominate. The strength of the Ravens defense is their rush defense and the Browns are a run first offense. The Ravens should be able to do enough defensively to limit the Browns’ offensive gameplan and on offense, it’s wheels up for the Ravens. The Ravens rush the ball well above the league average and the Browns cannot stop anyone on the ground. In this home game, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens should run all over a porous Browns defense and win this game with relative ease.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Atlanta Falcons

Death, taxes and the Atlanta Falcons covering against the spread. This year, the Falcons are 6-0 against the spread and are playing way better than anyone expected. Both of these teams are 3-3 and while the Bengals appear to have more talent, no one is giving any respect to the Falcons. This Atlanta team is running the ball with great success and using that to control the clock. While no one is confusing the Falcons for a Super Bowl contending team, they are better than this line suggests and until the Falcons don’t cover, we kind of have to take them.

Los Angeles Chargers vs Seattle Seahawks

These teams are both in the mix for most perplexing team in the NFL. The Seahawks were projected to be awful this season after losing Russell Wilson in the offseason but QB Geno Smith is smashing expectations and actually has this team humming. Despite a miserable defense, Geno and the Seahawks offense are moving the ball and carrying this team to wins. Against the Chargers, we don’t think the Seahawks will be able to keep up. The Chargers have been inconsistent offensively but QB Justin Herbert is finally healed from his rib injury and he should feast on one of the league’s worst passing defense. While the Seahawks should be able to score, the Chargers have the potential to score 40 plus points in this matchup and blow out the Seahawks in an important home game.

Detroit Lions vs Dallas Cowboys

This week should be a huge game for Lamb and the Cowboys offense. They are playing the Detroit Lions, who have given up the most points of any NFL team and Dallas has the pieces to pile it on the lowly Lions. QB Dak Prescott is expected to return from his hand injury for this game and when he’s healthy, Lamb is his favorite target. We expect Lamb to be heavily targeted in this matchup and considering it’s the Lions, he should easily clear this yardage total.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Carolina Panthers

Leonard Fournette is heating up. In the last three games, the Tampa Bay running back has scored three times. In that time period, he is top five in touches across the entire league and he is getting a ton of work. He has always been a competent scorer and after a slow start, it’s all coming together. This week, the Bucs are taking on the Carolina Panthers and are a whopping 13 point favorites. We expect the Bucs to build a lead and then run out the game with Fournette. In what should be a blowout, Fournette is a great bet to score, even if the odds are a little short.

New York Jets vs Denver Broncos

Breece Hall is a rookie running back for the surprisingly solid New York Jets and he has already established himself as one of the league’s best. Each of the past three weeks, Breece has received over 15 carries and he has scored in each of those games. The Broncos have a great pass defense so the Jets will have to run the ball a lot if they want to improve to 5-2. Fortunately for the Jets, that’s exactly what they want to do and Hall will be a key player in this game. At +135, this is one of the best value bets of the week.

Miami Dolphins vs Pittsburgh Steelers

In the Sunday Night Football game, the Miami Dolphins will host the lowly Pittsburgh Steelers and it should be pretty straightforward for the Dolphins. They will run the ball, control the clock and lock down the putrid Steelers offense. Mostert has completely dominated the Dolphins backfield in recent weeks and has earned the number one job. He should be showcased in this game against a bad Steelers rush defense and considering we think the Dolphins win this game, Mostert should have plenty of opportunities to get in the endzone. At -110, this is a good value bet on a guy who should be the focal point of his offense.
