Roger Federer will not be adding to his trophy case losing in a shocker in the fourth round to unseeded Australian John Millman.
With the great man vanquished, the tournament has taken a turn and the odds on the men’s side of the draw will change dramatically.
Let’s take a look at Wednesday’s quarter finals and find the best bets for our parlay of the day.

Leg 1 – Marin Cilic vs. Kei Nishikori
Marin Cilic is the 2014 US Open champion and he is the betting favorite in his quarterfinals match facing Kei Nishikori. In the 4th round Cilic beat 10th seed David Goffin 7-6 (8-6), 6-2, 6-4 and Nishikori beat unseeded Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-2, 7-5.
Both of these players have only lost one set in the tournament. These players met in another quarterfinals matchup in the Monte-Carlo Masters where Nishikori beat Cilic in three sets. Nishikori has an 8-6 all-time record facing Cilic, but had lost three straight to him before beating him this season.
Nishikori is 2-6 in career grand slam quarterfinal matches and the two semifinals he has made in the slams have come at the U.S. Open. Cilic is 5-7 in career grand slam quarterfinal matches, has won seven of his last eight matches on hard court, and lost in the finals of the Australian open on the hard court.
Nishikori has the shots and the defense to give Cilic fits, but the big Croatian has been great at the baseline in the tournament and in his last match he won 83% of his first serve. I see this being a close match with Cilic coming out on top to advance to the semifinals.
Tip: Cilic to win at -175.44 with Bovada
Leg 2 – Madison Keys vs. Carla Suarez Navarro
Keys is the betting favorite in this match and is the 14th seed in the tournament. She has only lost one set so far in the Big Apple and she was very impressive in dispatching 29th seed Dominika Cibulkova in the 4th round beating her 6-1, 6-3.
Carla Suarez Navarro is the 30th seed and in the 4th round she beat 22nd seed Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-3, which was her first match of the tournament that did not go three sets.
Keys is a powerful player and she has had fewer than 20 unforced errors in two of her last three matches. Her serve will likely give Suarez Navarro problems and in her 4th round match she won 83% of her first serve and 65% of her 2nd serve.
In the three all-time meetings between these players Keys has won all three times with all the matches going three sets. They have not faced each other since the 2016 Olympics. Keys will set the tone early in this match with her serve and she will win and advance to the semis.
Tip: Keys to win at -250 with Bovada
Leg 3 – Lesia Tsurenko vs. Naomi Osaka
Tsurenko is the lone unseeded player in the women’s side of the U.S. Open and in the 4th round she beat another unseeded player in Marketa Vondrousova 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 6-2. That was the first match of hers that went three sets and she took out 2nd seed Caroline Wozniacki in the 2nd round beating her 6-4, 6-2.
Naomi Osaka is the 20th seed in the tournament and in her last match she beat 26th seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. That was also her first match in New York that went three sets.
This will be the first time these players have met. Osaka has been solid on the baseline and on defense and has had to be considering she has missed around half of her first serves. That will cost her in this match, as Tsurenko will jump on her 2nd serve and because of that get several break chances. She will come out on top in this quarterfinals match and make it to her first career grand slam semifinals.
Tip: Tsurenko to win at +175 with Bovada
