Jack Wighton contemplates Rep football comeback amid biting allegations

The Canberra Raiders star player, Jack Wighton, who recently joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs, is currently thinking about returning to representative football after retiring.

This reconsideration comes in light of an accusation of biting that has led to his referral, to the NRL judiciary.

If he is suspended, it could affect his availability for the series with the Kangaroos.

Wighton’s time with the Raiders ended with a loss during their elimination against the Knights.

However, he now faces the possibility of missing out on playing in the rounds of the season with his new club due to scheduled judiciary proceedings on Tuesday night.

The twist in this story lies in Wighton’s return to duty. In November, he played a role in helping Mal Meninga’s Kangaroos win the World Cup; however, he announced his retirement from football before this year’s State of Origin. There are rumors circulating that he might reconsider that decision and make a comeback with the Kangaroos.

However, Meninga has made it clear that Wighton will not be considered for selection until after a decision is reached by the judiciary.

This development coincides with an incident involving Wighton and Tyson Gamble during the Raiders elimination, against the Knights, where allegations of biting were made. During a discussion on the NRL 360 panel, there were differing opinions regarding this incident.

While some people believed Wighton deserved a penalty, others expressed uncertainty about whether he bit Gamble. The conversation surrounding the incident and its impact on the game has become more intense, especially considering the consequences of making a decision.

In the meantime, there are rumors suggesting that South Sydney might benefit if Wighton reconsiders his position, as it could allow him to serve part of his suspension while playing for the Kangaroos. However, this situation has raised concerns, about maintaining the integrity of the game and whether tactics aimed at manipulating suspension periods should be allowed.
