Josh Inglis fires Australia to five-wicket win over England

Josh Inglis hit a stunning century as Australia chased down 351 to beat England by five wickets in the Champions Trophy.

Australia secured a five-wicket victory over England in a high-scoring Champions Trophy clash in Lahore on Saturday, with Josh Inglis leading the charge with a match-winning century.

England, despite entering as underdogs with the top cricket betting sites, posted a formidable total of 351 for eight in their 50 overs.

Ben Duckett was the standout performer, smashing 165 from 143 balls, while Joe Root contributed 68.

Captain Jos Buttler added 23, but England struggled to find consistency in their middle order, relying on their lower-order batsmen to push the total beyond 350.

Australia’s chase began on shaky ground, losing two quick wickets to slump to 27 for two inside the first five overs.

Matthew Short (63) and Marnus Labuschagne (47) steadied the innings, guiding Australia to 122 before both were dismissed.

Inglis and Alex Carey then took control, forming a crucial 146-run partnership for the fifth wicket that turned the tide in Australia’s favor.

Inglis remained unbeaten on 120 at a strike rate just under 140, while Glenn Maxwell sealed the victory in style, hammering 32 not out from just 15 balls.

“The team performed well, relying on each other’s abilities and maintaining control till the end,” Australian captain Steve Smith said after the match.

Following the victory, Australia’s odds of winning the 2025 Champions Trophy have shortened to +333 with the best betting sites, placing them as the second favorite behind India at +137.

New Zealand follows at +450, while England’s odds have stretched to +1200 with Nags.bet after the loss.
