The second match of Saturday’s IPL double-header takes us to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where Rajasthan Royals (RR) host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in what could prove a pivotal contest in the race for the playoffs.
Rajasthan come into this match under serious pressure. The Royals have now lost three in a row, most recently going down to Delhi Capitals in a dramatic Super Over after both sides finished on 188. Prior to that, they were dismantled by RCB and outclassed by Gujarat. The defeat to DC left them eighth on the ladder with a -0.714 net run rate, the third worst in the competition.
To make matters worse, Sanju Samson retired hurt against Delhi with a rib injury and is in doubt for this clash. If he doesn’t play, KS Rathore is tipped to come in at the top of the order. While Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana showed signs of form with half-centuries in midweek, the Royals continue to look fragile with both bat and ball. No RR bowler features in the top 10 for wickets this season.
By contrast, Lucknow Super Giants are quietly building momentum. They’ve won three of their last four matches, including a superb win over Gujarat before narrowly falling to CSK in a tight chase. While Nicholas Pooran had an off day against Chennai, Mitchell Marsh continued his excellent form, notching his fifth 30+ score in six innings.
Mayank Yadav’s return from injury also gives LSG’s bowling attack an edge, complementing Shardul Thakur’s 11 wickets so far. Lucknow’s top-order combination of Pooran and Marsh is one of the most dangerous in the league.
The head-to-head slightly favours Rajasthan, who have won four of the five meetings between the sides. But based on current form, it’s hard to look past Lucknow.
While Rajasthan have had the upper hand historically, current form is heavily in Lucknow’s favour. They have more balance, firepower, and discipline—and they look a far more settled outfit. The -129.87 with Nags.bet looks the right price.
Marsh is averaging 49.17 this season with five 30+ scores in six innings. He’s anchoring the LSG middle-order and remains one of the most dependable batters in IPL 2025. The +200 with cricket betting sites looks a great price to get involved at.
Nicholas Pooran may have missed out last time, but the West Indian dynamo has still hit 24 sixes in IPL 2025—the most in the tournament so far. With the short square boundaries at Jaipur and his aggressive approach, he’s well placed to clear the rope at least twice. He’s passed this line in five of his seven innings this season.
