The Detroit Lions play their annual Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears this Thursday in a big NFC North division rivalry.

After losing four in a row the Bears have won two of their last three games. Even if they win in Michigan this week, they may need help from other teams to get back to the NFL Playoffs. They are at 5-6 and the 8-3 Minnesota Vikings currently hold the sixth and last playoff spot in the NFC.

QB Matthew Stafford has missed the last three games with multiple back fractures and while he wants to come back, a return this season that looks unlikely. It was recently reported that backup QB Jeff Driskel is also out for this game and the Lions have had to turn to undrafted rookie David Blough, who has never taken an NFL snap.

The line for this game opened as a pick but with Blough getting the start the Bears are now a 5.5-point favorite.

The Bears beat the New York Giants 19-14 in their last game and held them to only 243 yards and one of 12 third-down conversions. The defense has played well in Chicago’s last three outings, only giving up an average of 14.7 ppg. However, their offense continues to struggle and ranks 28th in the league, averaging 17.1 ppg.

Chicago’s first win after their four-game losing streak was a 20-13 home victory over Detroit. The Bears are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games facing the Lions.

Chicago Bears -1 at -111.11 with Bovada

While the Bears are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven games, the one game they did cover in that span was the recent win over the Lions. On top of that, the Lions have failed to cover the spread in their last six games. Chicago will play great defense in Detroit and win a low-scoring affair to keep their playoff hopes alive.
