Champions-in-waiting Liverpool will be confident of extending their lead at the top of the English Premier League table when they meet Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium on Thursday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side heads into Wolverhampton at the summit of the league on 64 points – a comfortable 13 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, and a further three points in front of Leicester City in third.

Wolves are without the services of left wing-back Ruben Vinagre, who suffered a hamstring during their recent 1-0 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Portuguese forward Diogo Jota could be back in the reckoning having recovered from a calf injury, while defender Willy Boly will also be available for selection having been sidelined with a serious ankle injury since October.

Croatian defender Dejan Lovren has returned to full training this week, although it may be a few weeks yet until he returns to the matchday squad.

Wolverhampton Wanderers lick their lips at the prospect of meeting Liverpool in cup competitions, having knocked the Reds out of the FA Cup in two of the last three seasons.

It is a different story in the league, however, as the Reds have won each of their last six Premier League meetings with Wolves.

Yet to taste defeat this season, it is unlikely that Jurgen Klopp’s side will drop any points in what could be a low-scoring contest.
