Gators coach Muller test positive for coronavirus

The Florida Gators have been having a rough time lately. With the roster already decimated by positive COVID-19 tests, now the team’s head coach, Dan Muller, has contracted the virus.

Muller will be self-isolating at home with his family, following CDC and UF guidelines. The news comes only days after UF had to suspend all football activities due to the team’s failure to meet the minimum roster size set forward by the conference.

An upcoming game against LSU had to be postponed as well. So far, two coaches and 21 players have tested positive.

Klopp concerned over van Dijk injury

Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about Virgin van Dijk’s recent knee injury following Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Everton. The Dutch defender was forced off the field after a controversial challenge from Everton goalie Jordan Pickford.

“Virgil played I don’t know how many games in a row, he plays with pain, but he couldn’t play on. That’s not good,” commented Klopp.

Medical scans revealed ligament that will require surgery. With star goalkeeper Alisson Becker also sidelined, expect some movement in Liverpool’s odds at EPL betting sites.

Nigeria’s Osimhen scores first Serie A goal

Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen has scored his first goal in the Italian Serie A. The 21-year-old Napoli forward took 161 minutes (spread over three matches) to land his maiden strike, which came against Atalanta in a 4-1 victory this past Saturday.

Osimhen had previously gone up against Parma in his Serie A debut but scored no goals. The same happened in his second match, against Genoa. This time around, Osimhem hit the mark after chesting down a long-range ball from goalkeeper David Ospina.

The goal gave the Blues a 4-0 lead that would prove insurmountable for Atalanta. Sam Lammers scored the losing team’s only goal at 69’, shortening the gap somewhat, but not enough. Soccer bookmakers still favor Atalanta over Napoli in Serie A outright sports betting markets.

Getafe deal Barca their first loss this season

Barcelona were bested by Getafe in a 0-1 defeat that marks the Catalan team’s first loss of the season. Getafe’s single goal was delivered by Jaime Mata through a second-half penalty kick. A foul on Djene Dakonam by Frenkie de Jong opened the door for Mata’s penalty.

Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann both squandered clear opportunities. Messi struck the cross bar in the first half, while Griezmann went over the target from a short range. Meanwhile, Getafe’s Juan Hernandez hit Barcelona’s goal frame at 85’.

Barcelona’s surprising defeat at the hands of Getafe comes just after Real Madrid lost against Cadiz, also 0-1. It’s the first time in over 17 years that both teams have lost their league games heading into El Clasico. While Madrid still lead the league, Barça are now ninth with seven points.

Wallabies defense slammed after All Blacks blitz

In the second Test of the Bledisloe Cup, the All Blacks dominated the Wallabies 27-7. In the wake of this crushing defeat, the Wallabies’ defense is enduring heavy criticism.

The All Blacks showed their dominance throughout the match. However, it was the Wallabies’ many blunders that ultimately decided the game. Missing 40 tackles (versus New Zealand’s 23), the Australians were sloppy across the park.

While their mistakes plagued both halves of the game, the Wallabies managed to keep the margin to only three points at half time. However, a brief blitz from the All Blacks resulted in three back-to-back tries that made their victory decisive.

Van Gisbergen wins Bathurst 1000

New Zealand’s own Shane van Gisbergen has managed an impressive victory in the legendary Bathurst 1000 race. Van Gisbergen was joined by previous winner Garth Tander in the run-up to the event. After more than 160 grueling laps, ‘SVG’ came out ahead of the pack.

Cameron Waters attempted to pass the Kiwi driver on multiple occasions, failing each time. Ford’s Waters began the race in pole position, but that didn’t stop van Gisbergen from taking the lead.

Chaz Mostert—Bathurst 2014 winner—took third place , meaning Holden took two of the podium spots in the manufacturer’s final race at Mount Panorama. Holden have had an incredible run at Bathurst in recent times, taking home the title in all but one year since 2016.
