David Warner first made an impact at the domestic level in the longest format by hitting a record-breaking 197 runs off 141 balls against Victoria.

He earned his maiden call-up to the Test side for the home series against New Zealand in 2011 after Shane Watson was sidelined due to injury. In his debut game, he failed to make an impact with the bat, but came back strongly in the next to score his maiden century at Adelaide Oval.

In 2012, he smashed a 69-ball hundred against India at Perth to help Australia produce a comfortable win over the visitors. He registered a career-best score of 180 runs against India in his fifth Test match. Warner quickly cemented his place in the Test side on the back of consistently-good performances.

His career hit an all-time low in 2015 when he was embroiled in a controversy involving English cricketer Joe Root. He was reprimanded for a drunken incident that cost him his spot in the first two games of that year’s Ashes series.

Warner bounced back from that disappointment the next year, finishing with 1,136 runs and six centuries to his name in Test cricket. He scored his maiden double century against arch-rivals New Zealand at Perth.

The Australian opener has been one of the most successful players in the Indian Premier League.

It will be fair to say that he has been right up there with Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers in terms of scoring.

David Warner was first signed by Delhi Daredevils in 2009. He played well for the side and produced quality performances during his five-year period with the Daredevils. In 57 games he scored 1,456 runs at an average of 28.54. He also scored two centuries and 10 half-centuries for the side. Warner scored his highest score of 109* against Deccan Chargers in the 2012 Indian Premier League season.

In 2014, he was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad and appointed as captain of the franchise. Warner’s batting really flourished during this time as he finished with 562 runs in 14 games to end up as leading run-scorer for the tournament.

The left-handed batsman reached an all-time high in his IPL career as he scored 848 runs in 17 games to help Sunrisers Hyderabad lift their maiden crown against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the finals. He was equally impressive in 2017 Indian Premier League with 641 runs in 14 games. He also scored career best innings of 126 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 IPL season.

David Warner definitely has three or four years left in him to produce his best with the bat in the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping that he can continue his good form in the 2018 Indian Premier League.
