San Francisco Giants @ Oakland Athletics

The Giants were expected to deal Carlos Rodon at the MLB Trade Deadline, but held onto their All-Star starter who is signed through next season. He’s 9-6 this season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 158 strikeouts (fourth-most in MLB). He’s been a top-20 pitcher by every measurement, and he’s been effective against Oakland by every measurement. The Athletics have just four hits in 41 at-bats against Rodon. That’s a .275 OPS and .062 batting average against. Stephen Piscotty has the lone extra-base hit and another in eight at-bats.

Adam Oller is expected to start for Oakland. He’s 1-4 with a 7.68 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. Homers hurt him in July. He allowed five in 15.2 innings pitched, and it doesn’t seem to matter what side of the plate the batter stands. Lefties have a 1.015 OPS against him, and righties have a .969 OPS against him. The Giants have scored the 10th-most runs in MLB. Oakland has scored the second-fewest.

San Diego Padres @ Los Angeles Dodgers

Andrew Heaney has made just five appearances this season, but he’s been fantastic in that small sample size. His 0.77 ERA is lower than his WHIP (0.99) over 23.1 innings pitched. The Dodgers are 4-1 in the games he’s started, and against the Padres he’s been relatively effective. In 66 plate appearances the Padres have 16 hits with three doubles, a triple, and three dingers. That’s a .201 batting average and .726 OPS against. Nomar Mazara has five of the 16 hits in 14 at-bats, with three doubles, so consider placing a player prop bet on him to have multiple total bases on Saturday.

Mike Clevinger is expected to start for San Diego, and he’s really struggled with the Dodgers despite a 3.13 ERA and 1.08 WHIP this season. The Dodgers are nine-for-21 with a double and a triple against Clevinger, with Mookie Betts really giving him fits. Betts has the triple and three other hits in seven at-bats, so place a bet on him to have multiple total bases and multiple hits.

While the Padres got considerably better at the Trade Deadline, the Dodgers are still the team to beat in the National League. Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks

Merrill Kelly wasn’t an All-Star despite a 10-5 record, 2.87 ERA, and 1.13 WHIP. Those are all top-25 numbers, and against the Rockies he’s been stellar. Colorado batters have just 25 hits in 116 at-bats, with just nine going for extra bases. It all adds up to a .186 batting average and .478 OPS against. The bulk of the damage has been done by C.J. Cron (four-of-10 with two doubles) and Brendan Rodgers (four-of-10 with two doubles). Charlie Blackmon is also six-for-18 with a double, so do with that information what you will.

Countering for Colorado will be Antonio Senzatela, who is 3-6 with a 4.87 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. Arizona has absolutely owned him, too, going 38-for-96 with 10 doubles, two triples, and four homers. That’s a .367 batting average and 1.108 OPS against. Ketel Marte is 10-for-25 with a double and a triple, Christian Walker is 11-for-22 with four doubles and two homers, and Josh Rojas is six-of-14 with a double and a dinger. Consider placing player prop bets on any or all of them to have multiple total bases and multiple hits.
