Vikings vs Falcons Match History & Game Background
These teams met last in the 2017 season.
The Falcons were beset by injuries last season and it cost them in their 7-9 season. RB Devonta Freeman was limited to two games because of various injuries and the previous season playing 14 games he rushed for 865 yards and also had 311 receiving yards.
Even with the Falcons disappointing season Matt Ryan had a big one passing for 4.924 yards with 35 TD and only seven INT and it was the 8th straight season he has passed for at least 4,000 yards. Star WR Julio Jones led the NFL last season with 1,677 yards and rookie Calvin Ridley led the team with 10 TD.
Minnesota has not changed many faces on the defensive side of the football, and they should have a solid unit again. Last season they were one of the better teams defending the pass, but only ranked in the middle of the pack defending the run.
The Vikings were 8-7-1 last season in their first one with Kirk Cousins at the help and while he passed for 4,298 yards with 30 TD and 10 INT the offense was an inconsistent one failing to surpass 10 points in four games. Still, he has one of the best WR duos in the league in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, who combined for 215 catches, 2,394 yards, and 18 TD.
Dalvin Cook is the lead RB and the Vikings have high hopes for the 3rd year back. He led the team with 615 rushing yards last season in only 11 games and he is healthy heading into the season.
One of the big reasons the Falcons did not make the playoffs was because of their defense. They only ranked 25th in the league against the pass and 27th against the run. However, injuries hit the D hard and LB Deion Jones and S Keanu Neal each missed several games.
The Vikings were 5-3 at home last season and they could use a good start this season with two of their next three games on the road facing the Packers and Bears.

Falcons vs Vikings Predictions, Picks & Tips
Both of these teams look to bounce back after missing out on the playoffs last season. Both teams also have a solid offense with Matty Ice and Cousins and pass defense will be key in this game.
The Falcons will be a much better defensive unit than they were last season and that will be clearly demonstrated from the outset In what could well prove to a very dour struggle, home ground advantage could see the Minnesota Vikings claim a tight win; but as an NFL betting strategy we are tipping the Atlanta Falcons to cover the spread.
