They might have had their differences, but Sean Brady believes Ian Machado Garry will come out on top in Missouri.
Welterweight contender Sean Brady is picking Ian Machado Garry to have his hand raised when he faces Carlos Prates at UFC Kansas City this Saturday, despite his ill feelings toward the Irishman.
The pair have had their fair share of online quarrels in the past, criticizing each other’s fight styles and title ambitions.
But when asked this week who will prevail in the main event of the Missouri-based spectacle, Brady conceded Garry is the better-equipped fighter.
“Unfortunately, I’m going to pick Ian to win this fight,” he said on Wednesday.
“Ian has more ways to win than Carlos does.
“Obviously, Carlos could probably knock him out.
“Ian knows how to win. He’ll probably strike and f***ing run.”
UFC betting sites narrowly favor Garry as well, with Bet365 pricing the bout at -125 to +100 for the 27-year-old to win.
Prates’ striking has been on display in his last few bouts, with the Brazilian riding an 11‑fight winning streak with 10 finishes, including one over Neil Magny in his latest outing.
As Brady predicted, Garry will have to rely on his footwork, as online bookies have Prates by knockout (+175) as the shortest-priced method of victory.
The Dublin native is all about clinical striking backed by lots of movement, however, which is why a decision win (+260) looms as his most likely path to success.
Garry lost his undefeated record against Shavkat Rakhmonov in his latest fight and will be eager to get back on track with a performance against Prates.
Prates, meanwhile, is targeting a spot in the top 10 contenders in the welterweight division with a win on Saturday.
