British Open 2024 golf betting picks & predictions

The Open Championship returns to Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland this week, with the first round kicking off on Thursday, July 18.

Brian Harman is the reigning champion, but online bookmakers have the American left-hander at long odds of +7500 to defend the title he won at Royal Liverpool.

Two-time Masters winner Scottie Scheffler is the clear favourite at +500 with top golf betting sites, with Rory McIlroy next best at +800 as he looks to put his US Open nightmare behind him.

After his meltdown in the US Open at Pinehurst, the Irishman will be determined to make a statement at Troon. He finished top five when the Open was last here, and his overall record at the tournament — including seven top-six finishes — suggests he will be there or thereabouts once more.

Collin Morikawa

The 2021 champion might not have made a cut at the Open since, but his record in the majors this year is hard to ignore. He tied for third at the Masters, fourth at the PGA Championship and 14th at the US Open, so the form says he should be in the mix at some stage.

Robert MacIntyre

After winning the Scottish Open last weekend, the home favourite will be full of confidence. The 27-year-old has managed two top-10 finishes from four starts in the Open, and golf bookmakers are giving us decent value for him to do it again this week.

Adam Scott

The popular Australian has found form at just the right time, finishing second at the Scottish Open. At 44, he might be past his prime, but +400 for a top-10 finish is excellent value for a guy whose best is still good enough to compete at this level.
