It will feature the return of Russell Wilson to Seattle after the Seahawks traded him during the offseason. Wilson will now be leading the Broncos after 10 years with Seattle and emotions will be high for this game. It’s going to be an awesome contest and we have some picks for the game.

There has been a lot of talk that Russell Wilson wants to go into Seattle and embarrass the Seahawks. Well, what about the whole team he just left behind? They likely will want to embarrass Russ. This is an intriguing game where revenge and legacy will be on the line. At home in Seattle, we expect the Seahawks to put everything into this game and try to take down their former superstar quarterback. The Broncos have a better team, but Seattle have one of the best home-field advantages in the NFL. This is a tough spot for the Broncos and we like the Seahawks to cover in what should be a great game.

Also, beyond Wilson’s arrival, Denver made a lot of changes during the offseason. Because of those changes, the Broncos will need to get used to their new coach and they may start slow. No one is denying the Broncos’ talent, but they will have to adjust to a new scheme. The Seahawks do not project to be a great team this year, but this is a huge game for them and they should be able to keep it close. Later in the season, we would likely side with the Broncos. However, in this Week 1 matchup, we like the Seahawks to battle hard and keep it close at home.

Courtland Sutton total receptions: Over 4.5

Courtland Sutton is a very talented wide receiver who projects to be Russell Wilson’s main target. The Seahawks should have a tough time covering the big-bodied Sutton and he should be open frequently. In what promises to be a high-scoring contest, both teams will be forced to pass the ball in order to keep up with their opposition. In turn, Sutton should be targeted a lot, and this will likely be the lowest reception over/under we see for Sutton all season. Take the over and watch Sutton cook with his new QB.

Russell Wilson total interceptions: Over 0.5

Russell Wilson is an extremely talented QB, but he does have a propensity to make some risky throws. While that can work out, it does lead to some mistakes. After throwing 13 interceptions two years ago, Wilson only had six interceptions in 13 games last year. However, Wilson will be in a new system with new receivers and that could throw off his timing a little bit. When that happens, he will be at a higher risk for throwing an interception, so the +135 at Bovada is a great value bet.
