Betting Line: Ohio State -3.5
Over/Under: 54 points at 888 Sportsbook
TENTH-ranked Ohio State hits the road to face un-ranked Michigan State where the Buckeyes have their BCS fate in their hands.
Ohio State got over their lone loss of the season by beating Nebraska in their last game, but they did not play great only beating a two-win Cornhuskers team by five points at home. They are in 2nd place in the Big 10 East Division and face first place Michigan, who are one game up on the Buckeyes, in the last game of the season. Ohio State has the 10th highest scoring team in the nation and an offense that ranks third in the country in passing yards per game.
Michigan State has three losses, but they took down Penn State this season and are coming off a dominating game on defense. They beat Maryland 24-3 for their second straight win and while, pretty much, out of the conference title race they can really improve their bowl positioning and move back into the top 25 with a win over Ohio State.
The Spartans are about defense, as they rank 19th in the nation in points allowed and their defense is key since they are not a high scoring team only ranking 113th in points per game.
This season Ohio State is 8-1 SU with an ATS record of 3-6`and an O/U record of 4-5 and Michigan State is 6-3 with an ATS record of 4-5 and an O/U record of 4-5.
Ohio State has covered the spread in five of their last seven games facing the Spartans at Michigan State.
Last season at Ohio State the Buckeyes laid a 48-3 beat-down on the Spartans.
The Buckeyes beat Nebraska 36-31 in their last game where they outgained the Huskers 481 to 450, but they had three turnovers. Dwayne Haskins has passed for 3053 yards with 32 touchdowns and only five interceptions and in the win over Nebraska he passed for 252 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He has a loaded wide receiver corps with K.J. Hill and Parris Campbell each over 630 receiving yards and the running back duo of J.K. Dobbins and Mike Webber each have over 605 rushing yards.
Ohio State has not played their best football, by far, in the last two games and Haskins may go big facing a Michigan State pass defense that ranks 98th in the nation.
Michigan State schooled Maryland in their last game beating them 24-3 where they only allowed 100 overall yards. While the Spartans have been led by the pass attack on the season in the win over Maryland they rushed for 269 yards while only having 87 passing yards. Michigan State may want to hit the ground more in this game as well, as OSU ranks fifth in the nation in pass defense and only 69th in run defense,
Spartans’ running back Connor Hayward blew up for 157 rushing yards in the win over the Huskers, including an 80-yard scoring run, but while leading the team in rushing on the season his high for the season before the last game was 48 yards.
