As we predicted last week, Greuther Furth was no match for VfB Stuttgart, suffering a 5-1 loss on the road. This week presents a totally different situation; Furth will be playing its first home game at the Bundesliga level since 2013. And it will be doing so against an Arminia Bielefeld team that just narrowly avoided a spot in the bottom three on the Bundesliga table last season with an underwhelming 9-8-17 record.

Arminia had the second-worst attack in the league last season with only 26 goals in 34 matches, and those struggles appear to have carried over into this season following the 0-0 draw at home against SC Freiburg last weekend. This Furth squad should be fired up to impress the home fans, so take the hosts to win outright.

Hertha Berlin vs VfL Wolfsburg

VfL Wolfsburg had a strong campaign in 2020-21, finishing in fourth place with a 17-10-7 record. The club opened the 2021-22 season on the right foot with a 1-0 win at home over VfL Bochum. The win was a nice change of pace for Wolfsburg, as the squad was on a six-match losing streak in friendlies heading into the season opener.

Now Wolfsburg will try to carry the momentum of its win into this Saturday’s matchup against Hertha Berlin. Hertha finished near the bottom of the table last season at 8-11-15 and kicked off this season with a 3-1 loss on the road against lowly Koln. Wolfsburg is 3-1-1 in its last five games against Hertha Berlin, and an outright loss seems pretty unlikely in this spot. Wolfsburg has some value in the win-draw-win market, but the pick’em line is a lot safer.

Bayern Munich vs FC Koln

Last week we predicted that Bayern Munich might get off to a slow start to the season with a draw against Borussia Monchengladbach, and that is exactly what happened. This week, the defending champions return home with a chip on their shoulder and will play host to one of Bundesliga’s worst clubs.

FC Koln picked up the win over Hertha Berlin last week, but there still isn’t much reason to expect the club to perform a whole lot better than it did in 2020-21 when it finished in 16th place on the table with a record of 8-9-17. Bayern has won each of its last seven league games against Koln and has won by at least three goals in three of the last four games in this head-to-head series. Look for another Bayern Munich blowout here as the reigning champs look to make a statement after last week’s draw.
