Burnley vs Chelsea betting predictions, tips and odds

English Premier League betting tips

Chelsea will be hoping to extend their winning streak to seven matches when they face Burnley this weekend in the English Premier League.

Frank Lampard’s young side made their intentions known on their midweek trip to Amsterdam, where they beat Ajax 1-0 win to greatly aid their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite a disciplined performance from the Dutch side, who could have gained the lead had Quincy Promes’ first-half strike not be ruled out after a Video Assistant Referee review, Chelsea snatched the victory with a goal by substitute Michy Batshuayi in the dying moments of the game.

It was a demanding task for the Blues, one which they impressively overcame given how they had to grind out a 1-0 win over Newcastle United in the EPL last weekend.

Burnley, on the other hand, suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City during their most recent domestic outing.

Chris Wood gave the visitors the lead in the 26th minute with a towering header, only for the Foxes to equalise right at the stroke of half-time through Jamie Vardy.

Determined to pay their respects to former owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha ahead of the first anniversary of his death, the Foxes pushed for the win and got it thanks to Youri Tielemans’s fierce shot into the roof of the net in the 74th minute.

VAR yet again took centre stage in the encounter, as it controversially ruled out Wood’s early goal which could have seen the two sides share the spoils.

Burnley team news

Striker Chris Wood, who has scored four goals for the Clarets this season, could miss Chelsea’s visits with a hamstring problem.

Sean Dyche will, however, be boosted by the return of striker Ashley Barnes and midfielder Jack Cork.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Danny Drinkwater, who is on loan from Chelsea, will miss the match due to long-term injuries.

Chelsea team news

Several injury concerns still hover over Chelsea.

Ross Barkley has an ankle injury suffered during the win over Newcastle United, while N’Golo Kante’s persistent groin problem aggravated during the last international break will see him miss the trip to Burnley.

Andreas Christensen also looks poised to sit out the encounter with a groin injury picked up while on international duty with Denmark.

Tammy Abraham goalscorer odds and tips

  • Abraham to score/Chelsea win – +137

Tammy Abraham may only be 22 years old, but the emerging forward is anything but a novice.

After stints with Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa, the Londoner has now made over a century of senior appearances since registering his debut in 2016.

That lower-level experience is starting pay off in the top flight, as Abraham has already struck nine goals in all competitions this season.

With Michy Batshuayi continually pushing for a start with impressive performances off the bench, Abraham will have to take it a notch higher this weekend to cement his place as Chelsea’s front man.

Burnley vs Chelsea betting predictions

Sean Dyche’s Burnley are positioned eighth on the table on 12 points, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Turf Moor certainly isn’t an easy ground for any visiting team, but the Blues are growing stronger with each passing week.

The endeavour to stretch their winning streak could very well see the visitors emerge with a victory on Saturday.
