Due to the major nationwide labor scarcity, casino workers may currently have an advantage over employers. As a result, in order to attract new employees, casinos are giving large sign-on incentives and a variety of benefits.
Casinos from Atlantic City to Las Vegas and California are in desperate need of workers now that summer is almost here. All nine casinos were represented at the Atlantic City Convention Center yesterday for an industry-wide job event.
According to Joe Lupo, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ), casinos are still looking for competent applicants as well as beginners in the business. The gaming resorts are trying desperately to fill more than 2,000 available positions, according to the Hard Rock Atlantic City chief executive officer. These positions include; table gaming dealers, food and beverage servers, security personnel, hotel cleaners, and culinary positions all available.
As stated by Lupo, the industry is looking forward “to welcoming new team members who will help us continue delivering the world-class service our customers have come to expect while supporting the local and regional economy.”
Hard Rock Casino offers an appealing remuneration
The Seminole Tribe of Florida’s gambling unit, Hard Rock International, is building Virginia’s first commercial casino. The organization created headlines last month when it received the state’s first casino license.
Hard Rock is investing $300 million to transform the old Bristol Mall into a casino center, including a new hotel. Despite the fact that the permanent resort is still not due to open until 2025, Hard Rock Bristol intends to build a temporary casino in the coming month, in what was once a Belk department store.
The 30,000 square-foot interim gaming complex, will offer 900 slot machines, 20 table games, plus sports betting, and will require roughly 600 personnel, according to the managers.
In early May, Hard Rock increased its hiring potency. However, due to a small turn-up of applicants, Hard Rock has decided to offer cash sign-on bonuses.
Hard Rock is offering a minimum wage of $15-$17 per hour. The 40 candidates hired on the spot at this week’s hiring event in Johnson City, Tennessee, were also given a $2,000 signing bonus.
The Vice President of food and beverage Hard Rock Bristol, Danny Jimenez said the company is seeking incredible individuals who intend to work in a conducive, employee-friendly place.
“Cocktail servers, bartenders, cooks. We’re looking for great people who want a great work environment.”
Hard Rock says roughly 200 personnel are still needed to start the interim Bristol casino starting July 8. A total of 400 jobs have been occupied. Three additional casinos under formation in Virginia are also in need of assistance. These structures are being constructed in Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Danville, among other places.
Abound job opportunities in casino
There is a good chance a casino around you is recruiting. Caesars Entertainment says it needs 100 employees as soon as possible at its Horseshoe Baltimore casino. The Las Vegas-based casino giant claims that its Maryland facility is one of the 50 properties it manages that is having trouble finding workers.
All three casinos in Detroit are actively hiring, and the Oneida Indian Nation, which owns and manages Turning Stone Resort & Casino in New York, is holding a summer dealer school to train table staff.
To entice new workers from Louisville, Kentucky, the French Lick Resort in Indiana is providing a daily free shuttle to and from the Kentucky metropolis, which is 60 miles distant.
In California, the $500 million Sky River Casino in Elk Grove is on the verge of hiring up to 2,000 people. The casino, which is a collaboration between the Wilton Rancheria tribe and Boyd Gaming, is scheduled to open this season.
