NFC Championship Game preview – Commanders @ Eagles

The Washington Commanders head on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game this Sunday, with the winner going all the way to the Super Bowl.

At -294.12 the Eagles are clear favorites with leading NFL bookmakers, while the Commanders offer a value selection at +235. The line is set at six points.

Washington have defied all expectations to make the Conference Final, beating two higher-seeded teams while playing a rookie quarterback.

Last Saturday, the Commanders shocked the NFL, comfortably beating the Detroit Lions 45-31. Despite coming in as 10-point underdogs, Washington were relentless on both sides of the ball, knocking out the NFC’s top seed.

Led by 300 passing yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Jayden Daniels, Washington were unstoppable on offense, while their defense was able to produce five turnovers.

The Commanders have been excellent on offense all season, with Daniels rapidly adapting to the speed of the NFL. As a result, he is now looking to become the first rookie quarterback to reach the Super Bowl.

A key problem for the Commanders all season was their defense, but standout performances in both of their games so far have silenced the doubters for now.

Unfortunately, offensive guard Sam Cosmi suffered a torn ACL in the win against the Lions and will not feature again this season.

On the other side, the Eagles have been a very professional unit throughout the postseason, sticking to the ground game on offense, while their defense has been at its consistent best.

Despite tough conditions in Philly last Sunday, the Eagles were able to hold off a late Rams charge to secure a 28-22 victory. Running back Saquon Barkley continued his stellar form with 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a late 78-yard rush for a score that put away the game.

Consistently in control of their games, Philadelphia average just 93 passing yards per game across the postseason, as their run game has been able to reliably collect first downs.

Similarly, the Eagles defense has conceded the least number of points per game this season, while also recording the most turnovers across the playoffs so far.

Rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is set to play for Philly despite suffering a shoulder injury against the Rams. Meanwhile, guard Cam Jurgens (back) and tight end Dallas Goedert (ankle) are in doubt.

Commanders @ Eagles betting strategy – NFC Championship Game

Although the Commanders have surprised everyone by making a deep playoff run, beating the Eagles seems like a step too far. Expect Philly to stick with a run-heavy gameplan while their defense shuts down both the air and ground game. Jayden Daniels has passed every test so far this season, but against this Philadelphia defense, back the Eagles to get the job done and cover the line of -6 at -111.11 with top NFL sportsbooks.

While both of Philadelphia’s playoff games have gone under the total points line, watching the Commanders fly down the field against the Lions suggests there may be more scoring at both ends in this clash. These are two of the highest-scoring teams in the NFL this season, and last time they met it finished 36-33. With the line set at just 47.5 points, back this game to go over at -111.11 with leading online bookmakers.

Saquon Barkley is putting the Eagles on his back, with 324 rushing yards already during these playoffs. The former Giant has rushed for over 150 yards on six occasions this season, including in three of his last four games. Barkley had 146 and 150 yards the two times these sides met during the year, so back him to clear 150 on the ground once again at +200 with major sports betting sites.
