On a less fortunate note, Bagnaia’s teammate, Enea Bastianini, also had a tumultuous race day, triggering a pile-up at Turn 1 and suffering injuries that included a non-displaced fracture of the medial malleolus on his left ankle and a sub-capital fracture to the second metacarpal of his left hand. Bastianini is set to undergo surgery and will miss the next weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix.
