French Open Day 9 betting picks & value bets – May 30, 2022

French Open 2022 Day 9 preview

One of this Monday’s most highly anticipated matches at the 2022 French Open will be between the No.4-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas and the red-hot 19-year-old Holger Rune. Here’s our pick in that match along with our plays in the Andrey Rublev vs Jannik Sinner and Veronika Kudermetova vs Madison Keys matches on Day 9 of Roland Garros.

Holger Rune (+372) vs Stefanos Tsitsipas (-477)

Stefanos Tsitsipas cruised to an easy 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 win over Mikael Ymer in the third round on Saturday after having gone five sets in the first round against Lorenzo Musetti and four heavily contested sets in the second round against Zdenek Kolar. While the win came easily for Tsitsipas in a favorable matchup against Ymer, he could be back on the grind this Monday facing a tough challenger in Holger Rune.

Rune had no issues at all with a French crowd that was rooting on his opponent on Saturday as he rolled to a 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 win over Hugo Gaston. The 19-year-old hasn’t dropped a set yet in this tournament, including an impressive straight sets win over Denis Shapovalov in the first round. Rune is proving just how good he can be when he’s healthy, and his willingness and ability to fight for every point should make him a tough out in this spot. Take Rune as a 2.5-set underdog as he is very likely to win at least one set in this match and could push this one to five or even win outright.

Andrey Rublev (-120) vs Jannik Sinner (+100)

It’s a bit surprising to see Andrey Rublev going off as the favorite with the betting sites in this matchup against Jannik Sinner. Rublev does have a few things going for him here; he is the higher rated singles player (No. 7 in the world to Sinner’s No. 12), and he comes into this matchup with more experience. But there are enough reasons to like Sinner in this spot to overcome those facts.

Jannik Sinner is in sharper form through the first three rounds of the French Open, having dropped only one set to Rublev’s three thus far. Sinner has also defeated Rublev head-to-head in each of their last two matches, both of which came on clay. The 20-year-old Sinner is off to a 10-2 start through his first 12 career matches at Roland Garros and he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. He’s well worth a shot at these odds in what should be an entertaining match.

Veronika Kudermetova (+100) vs Madison Keys (-120)

Madison Keys is one of those players that has struggled with injuries and inconsistency in recent years. But when she’s on her game, she has all of the tools to compete with anyone, and that was on display in an impressive 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 win over Elena Rybakina on Saturday in which Keys dominated the third-set tiebreak 10-3.

Keys will face another tough opponent in the fourth round when she takes on Veronika Kudermetova. Kudermetova received a 6-3, 2-1 walkover win over Paula Bardosa in the third round that should leave her feeling fresh in this match. This one could certainly go either way, as the latest tennis betting odds indicate, but another top effort from Keys would likely yield enough firepower to get the job done against Kudermetova.
