La Liga 2021/22 Matchweek 3 preview, best bets & value picks

Sevilla FC visits Elche CF this Saturday in La Liga Matchweek 3 hoping to build on its 2-0-0 record. That road favorite is one of our top La Liga soccer betting picks this week along with selections in FC Barcelona vs Getafe CF and Cadiz CF vs CA Osasuna.

Elche vs Sevilla

Elche CF (0-1-1) narrowly escaped relegation last season with an 8-12-18 record that placed the club 17th on the La Liga table in 2020-21. Elche is off to another underwhelming start in 2021-22 with an 0-1-1 record playing Athletic Club to a 0-0 draw and losing to Atletico Madrid 1-0 last Sunday.

Sevilla (2-0-0) on the other hand is off to a 2-0-0 start after defeating Rayo Vallecano 3-0 at home and Getafe CF 1-0 on the road last Monday with a last-minute goal. We could see a similar score this week; considering how poor Elche’s attack is and how strong Sevilla’s defense is, a clean sheet seems quite likely. A 0-0 or 1-1 draw is certainly possible, but at just -125 to win on the three-way line, the superior Sevilla is worth a bet.

Barcelona vs Getafe

FC Barcelona (1-1-0) has scored five goals this season but has conceded three through its first two matches. The club’s shaky play in the defensive zone shouldn’t be too big of a deal against Getafe CF. Getafe (0-0-2) has lost each of its first two matches 1-0 and is no real threat on offense. This should come as no surprise as the club finished dead last in scoring last season with only 28 goals in 38 matches.

Betting on Barcelona to win this game outright is very pricey at -235; however, on the half-time/full-time double, Barcelona/Barcelona is just +110. Getafe’s stingy defense is tough to break through on, so 45 minutes may not be enough time to build a lead. With the far superior side in front of the home crowd though, look for Barcelona to find a first half goal and to hold on for the eventual win.

Cadiz vs Osasuna

Last season, CA Osasuna (0-2-0) and Cadiz CF (0-2-0) both finished with matching records of 11-11-16 on the bottom half of the table. They also finished 14th and 15th in scoring with 37 goals and 36 goals, respectively. Both teams are off to low-scoring starts again in 2021-22 as Cadiz has played to two 1-1 draws and Osasuna has played to two 0-0 draws.

Five of the last seven matches between these two clubs have produced two goals or less. Considering the current form of these two offenses and each team’s defensive-minded play style, we’ll take a shot on under 2.5 goals being scored in this contest.
