MLB American League betting preview – Saturday, June 4

Every MLB team is in action on Saturday, June 4, with seven American League games, seven National League games, and one interleague game between the Angels and Phillies. Here are the best bets on the games featuring American League teams scheduled for Saturday starting at 1:05pm ET. All lines provided by Bovada.

Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees

Beau Brieske is expected to start for Detroit, who is 0-4 with a 5.25 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 36 innings pitched. He’s already allowed 10 home runs this season, which is a number that will be bigger by the time he walks off the mound at New Yankee Stadium.

Brieske will at least benefit from the Yankees being unfamiliar with him, but righties should feel right at home with Brieske on the mound. Right-handed hitters are 26-for-81 with seven homers and five doubles against Brieske, for a 1.013 OPS.

Luis Severino has been fantastic for New York, with a 3.38 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He’s also been quite good against the Tigers. Detroit batters are just 10-for-51 with one homer and three doubles against Severino. Javier Baez has the homer and one of the doubles in just two at-bats, so you might consider placing a player prop bet on him to collect multiple today bases on Saturday. That’s the only bet to be made on the Tigers, however.

Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers

Glenn Otto will start for Texas at home against the Mariners, who are unfamiliar with the righty. He’s got a 4.33 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, though, and has especially struggled with right-handed hitters. Righties have 20 hits in just 70 at-bats against Otto with an .848 OPS. Expect Ty France, Julio Rodriguez, and Eugenio Suarez to enjoy their plate appearances against Otto.

Expect a lot of the Rangers to enjoy their plate appearances against Marco Gonzales, especially Charlie Culberson, who is six-for-13 with a triple and a homer against Gonzales. A player prop bet on Culberson to have multiple total bases in this game might be a smart bet. Texas to hit multiple homers might also be a smart bet. In 125 at-bats, the Rangers have 30 hits off Gonzales, with more than half of them going for extra bases.

The difference in this game will come down to the bullpens, where Texas has a considerable advantage. Seattle has a 3.97 ERA in the seventh inning and beyond, which is 19th in MLB. Texas is sixth with a 3.19 ERA after the sixth inning. Take Texas on the moneyline.

Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber vs Angels’ Michael Lorenzen

Michael Lorenzen has been good for Los Angeles, with a 3.19 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, but Kyle Schwarber has had his number. Schwarber is seven-for-20 with a double and two homers against Lorenzen. Place a player prop bet on Schwarber to collect multiple total bases.
