MLB American League betting preview & odds | Monday, June 13

MLB best bets

Major League Baseball (MLB) has 20 teams in action on Monday, with 10 games scheduled for June 13. There are four American League games, five National League games, and one interleague game scheduled. Here are the best bets on the games featuring American League teams scheduled for Monday starting at 7:05 p.m. Eastern. All lines provided by Bovada.

Houston Astros (-155) @ Texas Rangers (+135)

Christian Javier has been effective for Houston this season, logging 44.2 innings pitched in 11 appearances and posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Most of the Rangers have struggled against Javier, with Texas batters going 14-for-63 with five homers and two doubles. Kole Calhoun has three of those homers and one of those doubles, however. He’s seven-for-10 against Javier with a 2.400 OPS. You might want to place a bet on him to have multiple total bases (perhaps three) or a home run.

Projected to start for the Rangers is Taylor Hearn, who is 4-4 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. He’s been effective against Houston’s hitters, however. The Astros are just 19-for-84 off Hearn with nine extra-base hits and a .573 OPS. Yordan Alvarez has seen the most success against Hearn. He’s four-of-nine with two doubles and a homer. Bet on him to have multiple total bases in this one.

Avoid bets on the first five innings in this one, and take Houston’s superior bullpen to pull out the victory. Consider parlaying that bet with…

Chicago White Sox (-135) @ Detroit Tigers (+115)

Chicago hasn’t announced a starter, but Detroit is going with Rony Garcia as an opener, who has been hit hard by the White Sox in a small sample size. Chicago batters are seven-for-20 with four homers against Garcia. Those homers are spread around as well. Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal, Danny Mendick, and Luis Robert all have one. Abreu and Grandal each have two hits off Garcia.

Take Chicago to win this divisional matchup on the road. Parlaying Detroit and Houston together on the moneyline pays +186. Turn that into a trifecta by adding…

Baltimore Orioles (+235) @ Toronto Blue Jays (-300)

Alek Manoah has been money for the Blue Jays, going 7-1 with the third-best ERA (1.81) and ninth-best WHIP (0.96) in MLB. He’s also logged 69.2 innings pitched in 11 starts, going at least six innings in each of his last five starts. Baltimore batters haven’t had much luck against Manoah, either. The Orioles are just six-for-36 against Manoah with four extra-base hits and a .491 OPS. Most of that damage has been done by Ryan Mountcastle, who is three-of-seven with two of Baltimore’s three home runs against Manoah. You might consider placing a player prop bet on him to collect multiple total bases or hit a homer on Monday.

Kyle Bradish is expected to start for Baltimore, and he’s 1-3 with a 6.45 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Toronto is unfamiliar with Bradish, but it probably won’t matter, especially for the right handed hitters. Righties are 29-for-81 with nine homers and two doubles for a 1.158 OPS against Bradish. Expect Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., and George Springer to be comfortable in the batter’s box.

Take Toronto to win on the moneyline and add them to your moneyline parlay featuring Houston and Chicago for +281 odds.
