College basketball is finally back and it is officially March. One of the more entertaining times on the sports calendar is coming as March Madness will be here shortly. There are still some good games to wrap up before the conference tournament starts and the real mayhem begins. However, for anyone paying attention, this season has been insane and all of the top six teams just lost this Saturday. The slate tonight has some really interesting games tonight and here are the best picks for those games.

Providence Friars at Villanova Wildcats Picks

Two of the royals of the Big East will square off tonight in a big tone setting matchup. It is both of their last games of the regular season and they will both be looking to enter postseason play with a big win. Providence, this year, has been one of the most interesting teams in recent memory. They have exceeded expectations all year and have a 24-3 record. They are definitively a good team. But they haven’t gotten any respect. College basketball statistician Ken Pomeroy’s algorithm has them as the luckiest team in the NCAA as they seem to win every close game. But maybe that’s just who they are. Some teams just have that ability and perform well in crunch time. Either way, Providence hasn’t been blown out since early January so this line is very disrespectful to them.

Villanova is a good team as well. They have the pedigree and one of the best coaches in college basketball. Each and every year, Villanova expects to compete for a title and this year is no different. They beat Providence away by five points last time they matched up so it is not unrealistic to see Villanova win this game. However, they are favored by nearly double digits and that’s just far too many points. These teams are relatively evenly matched and it should be an entertaining tilt leading into the postseason.

Kansas Jayhawks at TCU Horned Frogs Tips

Surprise, surprise, the Kansas Jayhawks are good at basketball. With a 23-5 record, Kansas is right in the thick of things for the millionth year in a row and have legitimate title hopes. Ken Pom has them as the seventh best team in the nation and among the top in the Big 12 conference. Like all Kansas teams, they have been dominant at home and truly use their fans to motivate them. However, this game is away and they have been susceptible in those games.

TCU, on the other hand, is not a blue blood power and are quietly putting together an impressive season. They will be fighting for a March Madness berth and with their 18-9 record, they are right on the bubble. This would be a massive win for them and their chances of making the NCAA tournament. While it is unlikely they win, they should cover. Kansas is focused on bigger things than this last game of their regular season. TCU will be motivated to prove they belong and that fire should make this a closer game than the books project.

Michigan St Spartans at Michigan Wolverines Preview

It’s big brother vs little brother in Michigan tonight and it should be a great game. Both of these teams have underwhelmed to an extent this year but it goes to show how difficult the Big 10 is. The conference has the potential to send nine teams to the tournament and there really are no easy games in this league. Home court advantage has always been a massive factor in these games and Michigan will hope to use that for this big rivalry game. They are 15-5 at home in their last 20 games and should be able to pull it out against a scrappy Spartans team.

Michigan St is 19-9 this season and should be able to get selected for March Madness. Whether their Coach Tom Izzo will be able to pull off his trademark Cinderella runs in the tournament remains to be seen. Ultimately, this team is not as good as it has been in years past and will come into this game 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games. They have been struggling and this is a good spot for Michigan to bury them. We expect Michigan to use the crowd in their last home game to cruise by Michigan St and gear up for the Big 10 tournament.
