The Netherlands will welcome Austria to the Johan Cruijff Arena on Thursday night as part of Group C match play at Euro 2020. BettingPlanet brings you the best bets for the match between the two undefeated teams in the group.
Having not met since 2016, previous results will hardly matter when these two teams clash on Thursday night in Amsterdam. For what it is worth, the Netherlands own a 2-0 head-to-head record over Austria, and we expect that undefeated record to remain intact. Following their first-up win over Ukraine, the elite duo of Frenkie De Jong and Memphis Depay should give this Austria line-up plenty of headaches as the Dutch look to book their spot in the round of 16.
Austria are ranked no.23 in the world, but in their 3-1 win over North Macedonia they showed plenty to suggest they can take it up to the Netherlands. With almost half of this Austrian side being consistent starters in the Bundesliga, they certainly have enough star-power to hold their own at this level. With the likes of Marcel Sabitzer, Konrad Laimer and Stefan Lainer pulling the strings in midfield, Marko Arnautovic and Sasa Kalajdzic should get their chances in front of goal.
Both of these sides scored three goals in their opening game of Euro 2020, so we expect there to be plenty of chances at either end. Both line-ups have some potent attacking weapons, with a few questions to be asked in defence. With a strong striker duo of Wort Weghorst and Memphis Depay, the Netherlands should take the three points in this encounter despite the lack of a clean sheet.
Despite not hitting the back of the net in the Netherlands’ 3-2 win over Ukraine, Memphis Depay will be looking to get his Euro 2020 campaign off the ground. He had netted 10 goals in his past 10 matches for both club and country prior to the Euros. We expect the Lyon striker to give David Alaba and the Austrian defence plenty of headaches. It is worth noting that Depay will most likely take any penalties that the Netherlands win on Thursday.
