Nzoia Sugar vs. Mathare United head-to-head tips – 2018/19 KPL betting

Nzoia Sugar will play host to Mathare United on Saturday afternoon in Match Week 2 of the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League.

With Chemelil already on the back foot, the Slum Boys unleashed an unrelenting onslaught, adding a second goal eight minutes later through Clifford Alwanga. Kevin Kimani’s delivery from a corner found the Mathare striker who doubled the lead with a thunderous header.

Ending the first half as the stronger side, Francis Kimanzi’s charges picked up from where they left matters, as they dominantly dictated play after the interval; seemingly on course to secure maximum point on their first match of the new campaign.

The encounter was nonetheless not without controversy, as the hosts were reduced to ten men in the 79th minute following the sending off of goalkeeper Job Ochieng’. The Mathare custodian was shown a straight red after he came of his lines and fouled Lucas Wiatere; denying the Chemelil forward a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Kimazi was however never going to let the points slip away, as he initiated timely substitutions to ensure his side secured all three points without conceding any goals during the closing moments of the game.

Nzoia Sugar were similarly off to a winning start in their first match of the season, as they won away to Zoo Kericho last Sunday. The only goal of the encounter was scored in 68th minute when Nzoia took advantage of a defensive blunder to score the only game of the encounter.

Nzoia managed to cling onto top flight football last season, and will be in high spirits heading into this weekend’s encounter, but Mathare could very well retain their place at the helm by collecting their second successive win of the season.
