The 2024 Paris Olympic Games roll on this Monday with plenty exciting events and medals up for grabs. Here are our best bets for Day 10.
After the shock elimination of favourite Jessica Fox in the heats, the fight for the first-ever kayak cross gold medal has been blown right open. Great Britain’s Kimberley Woods has now assumed favouritism after a strong showing in the heats. She was the 2023 World Cup winner in this event and won Bronze in the K1 final last week, so back Woods to win the gold at +125 with top Olympic bookmakers.
In the men’s event, it is Team GB’s Joe Clarke who enters as the favourite. The 31-year-old is a three-time world champion in the kayak cross, including in each of the past two years. A former Olympic gold medallist in the K1, back Clarke to secure gold at +110 with leading online bookmakers.
While Sweden’s Armand Duplantis (-5000) is an overwhelming favourite for the gold, watch out for Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis. The 24-year-old finished fourth in Tokyo but has had a great 2024, earning bronze at the World Indoor Championships and silver at the European Championships. His medal hopes were boosted when the USA’s Chris Nilsen missed qualification, while the Philippines’ Ernest John Obiena (+2500) is battling a back injury.
As Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon (-555.56) is the clear favourite, there is excellent value in the medal markets and particularly Sifan Hassan. The Dutch runner is the reigning Olympic gold medallist in this event and came second in last year’s World Championships. At +110 with Nags.bet, she offers excellent value to win either gold or silver in Paris.
Australia finished top of Pool B with four wins and a draw, edging out Argentina on goal difference. Even so, the Hockeyroos sit on the third line of outright betting at +850, with the Netherlands (-250) heavily favoured to win gold. Facing a Chinese side that has struggled so far, back Australia to secure a comfortable win at -303.03 with Olympics betting sites.
Morocco have been the surprise packet of the men’s football, finishing top of Group B before destroying the USA 4-0 in the quarterfinals. While Spain are slight favourites for this clash, they looked shaky against Egypt and lack experience with no over-23 players. At +130 with top soccer bookies, back Morocco to advance to the final.
