Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) return to Eden Gardens on Monday under pressure to stay in the IPL playoff hunt as they welcome a red-hot Gujarat Titans (GT) side.
KKR’s inconsistency continues to hurt them—just days ago, they fell short of chasing 111 against Punjab, a defeat that stunned fans and exposed the team’s brittle middle order.
In contrast, Gujarat are riding high at the top of the IPL 2025 standings. A seven-wicket win over Delhi—courtesy of a Jos Buttler masterclass—took their record to 5-2 and reaffirmed their credentials as title contenders. With a settled top order, composed of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Buttler, Gujarat have emerged as one of the most stable sides in this year’s competition.
KKR may be tempted to tinker again after their batting collapse. Andre Russell’s form is under the microscope—he’s striking at just 109 and bowling sporadically.
Moeen Ali could return, possibly in place of Nortje. Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer must fire if KKR are to match Gujarat’s depth.
Gujarat remain reluctant to use all four overseas options, with Gerald Coetzee likely to carry drinks again.
They have resisted the temptation to drop Rashid Khan despite a lean run with the ball—four wickets at 9.7 RPO—though pressure is building.
Eden Gardens has seen some run-fests this season—nine of the last 16 first-innings totals have breached 200. However, there’s chatter that KKR could prepare something slower to bring their spinners into play.
Expect spin to play a key role, but if the surface plays true, both batting units have the power to make this a high-scorer.
KKR were humbled chasing just 111 against Punjab and now face the league’s most composed batting line-up. With momentum, form and depth on their side, Gujarat are excellent value at even money with top cricket betting sites.
Sai Sudharsan is in sensational touch this season, averaging 52.14 with four half-centuries in seven innings. Up against a shaky KKR attack, he’s got every chance to go big again at a ground where openers have flourished. The +170 with Nags.bet looks a great price to get involved at.
Aside from a lone 97, Quinton de Kock has been well below his best with scores of 1, 1, 15, 23 and 2 in his other knocks. Gujarat’s bowling attack is disciplined enough to keep him quiet again. With QDK’s line set at 24.5, it is one punters can take on with confidence.
