Tuesday’s MLB American League best bets & parlays – June 28

There are 16 Major League Baseball (MLB) games scheduled for Tuesday, headlined by Carlos Carrasco and the Mets hosting Framber Valdez and Houston in an interleague game, the Twins and Guardians playing two, and Robbie Ray and the Mariners getting the Orioles at home. Here are the best bets on games featuring American League teams scheduled for Tuesday, June 28 starting at 1:10 p.m. Eastern. All lines provided by Bovada.

Houston Astros (-125) @ New York Mets (+105)

Carlos Carrasco might be 8-3, but his 4.42 ERA and 1.29 WHIP aren’t indicative of that stellar record. His numbers against the Astros aren’t great, either. Houston hitters are 29-for-93 with four doubles and four homers with a .972 OPS against Carrasco.

Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Jordan Alvarez, and Yuli Gurriel have all enjoyed hitting off of Carrasco. Altuve is 10-for-27 with a homer, Bregman is four-of-15 with a homer, Alvarez is two-for-two with a homer, and Gurriel is five-for-13 with two doubles. A player prop bet on any of these players to amass multiple total bases on Tuesday is a smart bet.

Framber Valdez is 7-3, and his numbers are indicative of that record (2.90 ERA and 1.13 WHIP). In a small sample size, Valdez has handled four of the Mets, allowing just four hits in 19 at-bats, none of which have gone for extra bases.

Minnesota Twins @ Clevland Guardians

Devin Smeltzer is scheduled to start for Minnesota in game one of a doubleheader in Cleveland. Smeltzer has been a pleasant surprise for the Twins, going 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA and 1.06 WHIP despite striking out just 22 batters in 44.1 innings pitched. He’s had great success with the Guardians’ lineup, allowing just nine hits in 47 at-bats, with only four going for extra bases. That’s a .491 OPS and .175 batting average against.

Zach Plesac is expected to throw for Cleveland, and he’s 2-5 with a 4.17 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Plesac has also struggled missing bats, striking out just 50 batters in 73.1 innings. Lefties have hurt Plesac, logging an .820 OPS and smashing seven dingers in 129 at-bats. The Twins batter with the best numbers against Plesac is righty Carlos Correa, however. He’s four-of-six with a double and a dinger. Bet on him to have multiple total bases on Tuesday.

Baltimore Orioles (+160) @ Seattle Mariners (-190)

Robbie Ray has been missing plenty of bats. His 97 strikeouts is tied for seventh in MLB. His 1.18 WHIP is ranked 35th, and his 4.07 ERA is ranked 45th, however. That’s why he’s 6-6. The Orioles have actually handled Ray well, posting an .899 OPS, with 29 hits and 11 extra-base hits in 94 at-bats. Cedric Mullins has four hits in nine at-bats with two home runs off Ray. Austin Hays is six-for-nine with a triple. Taking either to have multiple total bases on Tuesday would be smart.

Dean Kremer is scheduled to start for Baltimore, and he’s been effective in 21 innings pitched. He’s 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, striking out 14 batters. Seattle has no hits in 11 at-bats against Kremer, so the Mariners are mostly unfamiliar with him. Don’t sleep on Baltimore’s bullpen, either. Its 3.06 ERA amongst relievers is tied for third-best in the sport.
