US Open 2nd round betting tips, multi odds and predictions

It has not taken long for some big names to fall at the 2019 US Open tennis.

Dominic Thiem reached the final of the French Open, but he has now bowed out in the first round at two consecutive majors after losing to the unseeded Thomas Fabbiano.

Stefanos Tsitsipas was another casualty in the men’s draw, with the eighth seed going down to Russia’s Andrey Rublev in four sets.

Two former US Open champions failed to clear the first hurdle in the women’s singles, with Sloane Stephens and Angelique Kerber both going out in straight sets.

Ash Barty got a big scare when she dropped her opening set against Zarina Diyas, but the Australian recovered to win it in three.

Alexei Popyrin vs Mikhail Kukushkin

Whereas Popyrin had an easy win over Federico Delbonis in the first round, Kukushkin needed five sets to get past 10th seed Roberto Bautista Agut. Although it is still early in the tournament, the young Australian should have the fresher legs and looks a decent bet at odds.

There is an obvious gulf in class between these two. Cilic is a former winner at Flushing Meadows and a recent finalist at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, while Stebe is a 28-year-old journeyman who has never passed the second round at a major. Back the Croat in straight sets.

The top seed did not have it all her own way in the first round, but her class won out over three sets against Anna Blinkova. Kaia Kanepi vs Donna Vekic

Kanepi dropped her first set to Tatjana Maria but recovered to win 5-7 7-6 6-3, while Vekic required only two sets to see off Richel Hogenkamp. Neither of these players have done much at the majors this year, but the odds favour the younger and more powerful Vekic.
