Wisconsin vs. Iowa NCAA football betting – free spread & result tips
Wisconsin vs. Iowa – 8:30 PM EST, Saturday, September 22 at Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA
Betting Line: Wisconsin
Over/Under: 43.5 points at Bovada
In the first Big 10 game for both of these teams in the the 2018 NCAA football season, undefeated Iowa plays host to 18th-ranked Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is the slight road betting favorite at 888 Sportsbook in this conference game, even though they were upset in their last encounter. With the loss in their last game the Badgers may have to run the table and go unbeaten in Big 10 play to have a chance for a BCS playoff berth. While they do not have to face Ohio State this season, they still have to hit the road to face Michigan and Penn State.
Iowa has won all of their games and while they scored over 30 points in two of them their defense has been great. They rank 8th in the nation only allowing an average of eight points per game.
This season Wisconsin is 2-1 SU with an ATS record of 0-3 and an O/U record of 1-2 and Iowa is also at 3-0 with an ATS record of 3-0 and an O/U record of 1-2.
The road team has covered the spread in eight of the last 11 games between these Big 10 rivals.
In their last game Wisconsin was upset losing to BYU 24-21. The loss by the Badgers snapped their 41-game winning streak facing teams outside of the Big 10. Wisconsin had more yards in the game (394 to 311), but they had the game’s only turnovers and made some key mistakes one of which was a missed field goal with 41 seconds left, which would have tied the game.
Wisconsin’s Alex Hornibrook passed for 190 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in the loss to BYU and running back Jonathan Taylor rushed for 117 of the Badgers 204 rushing yards. Taylor is a Heisman candidate and in the game previous to BYU he rushed for 253 yards.
The Badgers’ defense ranks 11th in the nation in pass defense and 48th in run defense. That defense will face an Iowa team that racked up 545 yards in their last game and rushed for 207 yards.
Iowa stayed in the ranks of the unbeaten in their last game beating Northern Iowa 38-14. They did have two turnovers, but had a balanced offensive attack and they held UNI to only six rushing yards. Nate Stanley passed for 309 yards with two touchdowns and an interception and the wide receiver duo of Nick Easley and Noah Fant combined for 15 catches and 202 receiving yards. Toren Young and Mekhi Sargent combined for 154 rushing yards and the Hawkeyes need to run the ball well to win this game.
The big matchup in this game is Taylor and the Badgers smash-mouth run game facing Iowa and their run defense. The Hawkeyes have not faced a great running team yet, but after three games they rank 2nd in the nation in run defense.

Wisconsin vs. Iowa betting predictions
Something has got to give in this game, as Wisconsin is 11-1 ATS in their last 12 road games and Iowa is 5-0 ATS in their last five games. Too bad for the Hawkeyes and their fans that the first trend is the one that will continue.
Taylor and the Badgers will have a big game on the ground and their defense will smother Iowa. Wisconsin will take out their frustrations from the loss to BYU on Iowa and on the road, the Badgers will win and cover the spread.
