FIFA World Cup top picks & goalscorer bets | Monday, November 21

World Cup soccer betting

The 2022 FIFA World Cup finally kicks off this Sunday and, as is tradition, the host nation will participate in the opener. Of course, this year that sets up Qatar vs Ecuador and while that may not be the best matchup, better games are right around the corner. We are going to avoid the opening match due to concerns about fair and honest refereeing but this article will cover the three game Monday slate. Let’s get into them.

England vs Iran

Simply put, we don’t see any way Iran can stop England. England’s entire roster is filled with top-flight talent and Iran simply isn’t on their level. While we think Iran will sit back and try to park the bus, we still believe England will break through and score some goals. And if England scores, Harry Kane is usually the guy. Kane is an elite striker and no one on Iran will be able to slow down his physicality and technical ability. Kane has 51 goals in 75 games playing for England and he should add multiple goals to that tally in this battle.

Netherlands vs Senegal

Unlike in the previous matchup, both of these clubs actually have some top end talent. That being said, Netherlands should win this game with ease. After surprisingly not qualifying for last World Cup, Netherlands should play with an edge in this contest and re-establish themselves as one of the world’s best. They have guys like Frenkie De Jong and Cody Gakpo who will give the Dutch some threats moving forward and their defense is filled with elite players. Senegal will be without their best player, Sadio Mane for the duration of this tournament and they simply are not the same team without their spiritual leader. Take Netherlands to win their opener as they have a clear advantage over a scrappy but inferior Senegal side.

USA vs Wales

This game comes down to one guy. USA have more depth than Wales and they have an overall better squad but they may not have an answer for Gareth Bale. Bale should be the best player on the pitch and he always takes it to another level when playing for his country. However, at this point, Bale is 33 years old and simply not as dangerous as he once was. If he doesn’t take over this game by himself, the USMNT should win this game with ease. They have a clear advantage in all three stages of the game and guys like Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna will give the US a boost offensively. Take the US to win and set themselves up for a thrilling game against England next Friday.
