Super Bowl LIX – Sunday, February 9, 2025

Super Bowl LIX is here, with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles set to duke it out in New Orleans this Sunday night.

The Chiefs will be looking to complete the ‘three-peat’, but can the Eagles get revenge for their narrow loss to Kansas City in the 2023 edition?

BettingPlanet.com has taken a deep dive into this heavyweight matchup and come with the top betting picks for what is shaping up to be massive night at the Superdome.

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl preview

After reaching the Super Bowl for the fifth time in the last six years, the Chiefs are mainstays on the biggest stage and have already become one of the greatest NFL teams of all time.

This season has been no different, as Kansas City finished the regular season with a league-best 15-2 record that secured them the No.1 seed in the AFC.

After a first-round bye, the Chiefs secured their spot in the AFC Championship Game with a comfortable 23-14 win over the Houston Texans.

In the conference championship, it was another case of the Chiefs getting the job done in a close finish, as they narrowly tipped the Bills 32-29.

Given their experience on the big stage and their ability to get the job done, it is no surprise to see Andy Reid’s team are slight favorites at -120.48 with top NFL sportsbooks.

On offense, quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to find ways to win, making big plays in key moments to put his team in the best position. Tight end Travis Kelce remains his No.1 target, but keep an eye out for the speed of rookie receiver Xavier Worthy.

Experienced trio DeAndre Hopkins, Hollywood Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster will also play a key role, as will the rushing duo of Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco.

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo leads one of the most imposing defensive units in the NFL.

Up front, the likes of Chris Jones, George Karlaftis and Nick Bolton are good at stuffing the run and blitzing the quarterback, regularly making big plays at the right time. Meanwhile, defensive backs Trent McDuffie and Justin Reid consistently give opposition receivers a tough time.

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl preview

Philadelphia have also been one of the top sides all season long, using an old-fashioned ground-and-pound gameplan to the greatest effect.

With a record of 14-2, the Eagles finished the regular season with the NFC East title and the No.2 seed in the conference.

They got their playoff campaign started with a 22-10 win over the Packers before beating the Rams 28-22 in the Divisional Round.

In the NFC Championship Game, the Eagles produced a statement performance to beat the Commanders 55-23.

Nick Sirianni’s men have been excellent on both sides of the ball this season, but arguably no-one has been more impressive than running back Saquon Barkley. Behind the best offensive line in the NFL, Barkley is set to break the record for most rushing yards in a season, while he has already scored five touchdowns this post season.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts also offers a strong dual-threat option, while the Eagles have one of the best receiving duos in the NFL with AJ Brown and DaVonta Smith.

On defense, all-pro duo Jalen Carter and Zack Baun are the players to watch in the pass rush, while the experienced Darius Slay leads a secondary that includes standout rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

Despite their excellent season and star-studded roster, the Eagles are slight outsiders at +102 with major online bookmakers.

Super Bowl LIX: Chiefs vs Eagles betting strategy

Although the Chiefs aren’t as good on paper as this Eagles side, their continuous ability to get the job done means you have to back them. While Barkley and the run game offer a significant threat, the Chiefs have one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Mahomes has repeatedly delivered on the big stage, and we would be foolish not to expect it again.

After watching the Eagles pile on 55 points in the NFC Championship Game, expect this Super Bowl to have plenty of scoring. Both sides are filled with offensive talent, while it should be an excellent duel between star quarterbacks. Super Bowl LVII finished 38-35, so expect this game to go over 48.5 total points at -111.11 with top online bookies.

Already a three-time winner of the Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes is the obvious candidate once again. The Chiefs are favorites for a reason and Mahomes is the key factor, as his game-management skills nearly always keep his team in a winning position. Despite offering +100 odds with Super Bowl betting sites, it is hard to bet against Mahomes winning the award yet again.
