Punjab Kings remain undefeated in the 2025 Indian Premier League after comfortably chasing 172 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Lucknow came into their first home match of the season as marginal favourites across IPL betting sites, yet they started poorly after being put in to bat.

Three wickets fell inside the powerplay, with Mitchell Marsh (0 from 1) going fourth ball before Aiden Markram (28 from 18) and Rishabh Pant (2 from 5) exited in the fourth and fifth overs, respectively.

Nicholas Pooran (44 from 30) and Ayush Badoni (41 from 33) rebuilt well, taking LSG to 89/3 from 11.2 overs.

However, regular wickets and slow scoring meant all Lucknow could manage was 171/7, with left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh (3/43) leading the way for PBKS.

The visitors were untroubled in their chase, with opener Prabhsimran Singh (69 from 34) starring alongside captain Shreyas Iyer (52* from 30) and Nehal Wadhere (43* from 25).

Only Priyansh Arya (8 from 9) misfired, falling in the third over, as Punjab chased down LSG’s target with ease, making 177/2 from just 16.2 overs.

“This is the start we required,” Iyer said afterwards.

“The boys actually played their roles well, they contributed to the best of their ability, and whatever we planned, they executed it to the fullest.

“To be honest, there is no right combination.

“The camaraderie and synergy has to click at the right time.

“All teams have the potential to win the game, you just need to have a similar mindset of wanting to win – that is what we always talk about.

“I always try to be in the present and this innings is history for me, just want to focus on the next one now.”

Sitting top of the IPL ladder alongside Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals, Punjab have shortened to +500 in title odds across cricket bookmakers.

Only RCB (+400) sit ahead of them in outright betting at Nags.bet, with Mumbai Indians (+550), Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals (both +600) priced similarly.
