Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has signed a new three-year deal with the Perth Scorchers, committing to the club until the end of the 2027–28 BBL season as he looks to close out his playing career at home.

The 33-year-old confirmed the deal on Friday, expressing pride at continuing his journey with the franchise where it all began.

Marsh has played just one game for Perth in the past three Big Bash League seasons due to international duties, but with his workload winding down, he’s determined to be more involved moving forward.

“I’m really proud to sign on with the Scorchers, a team that I’ve played with since I was a kid, and a franchise that has looked after me incredibly well,” Marsh said.

“Being a one-club player was a big part of my decision, which was obviously quite an easy decision.”

The news ends speculation around Marsh’s future, after he was left off the club’s initial list of confirmed players for the 2025–26 campaign.

Now the last remaining member of the Scorchers’ original 2011 squad, the T20 World Cup winner says loyalty was key in his decision.

“With the landscape of cricket these days, a lot of us play for different teams around the world,” he said.

“The idea of always coming home and playing for the Scorchers — and hopefully finishing my career as a one-club player — will be something I’m really proud of in years to come.”

Marsh also spoke about the tight-knit culture that has helped shape Perth into the BBL’s most successful team.

“A lot of the guys in this team are not only mates on the field but also some of my best friends in life,” he said.

“Joel Paris, who’s coming back across, was a groomsman at my wedding. Playing alongside your best mates is always a special experience.”

Despite entering the 2024–25 BBL season as +350 title favorites at top online sportsbooks, Perth missed the finals after a four-game losing skid saw them finish fifth.

The Hobart Hurricanes ultimately claimed their first BBL title, surging from pre-season outsiders to tournament winners.

Marsh, who watched Perth’s campaign from the sidelines, said he was itching to get back out there.

“I’ve tuned into every game the last few years and tried to feel part of it all,” he said.

“There’s no doubt I’ll be around a lot more the next few years and that’s something I’m really looking forward to.

“It’s all about contributing, trying to add value to our team, and making sure we get back to playing finals and chasing more silverware.”
